BC Thanksgiving Food Drive - Quesnel

We will be delivering the bags to your door, over the next couple of days. Please give generously! Our goal this year is to collect over 600,000 lbs of food.

The BC Thanksgiving Food Drive began in 2009 in the city of Burnaby to assist the local food bank. It has now expanded province wide and is able to assist dozens of community food banks serving over 50 cities and many thousands of needy individuals and families throughout British Columbia. In 2014, over 400,000 lbs of food was collected by more than 6000 volunteers (valued at approx. $900,000) and

was sorted and delivered to community food banks. This year’s food drive takes place from Sept 14th – 19th and we anticipate more volunteer participants from dozens of partnering businesses, churches and volunteer organizations who will visit some 250,000 addresses across the province that week. Get involved! The BCTFD is a non-denominational project and is open to all interested individuals, community groups, religious organizations, businesses or others who wish to join us in helping attend to the needs of the hungry in our province. We are always recruiting volunteers to help with planning and organizing our events or completing collection routes. We are also looking to partner with organizations whose members are willing to participate en masse as volunteers, and sponsors who will contribute to our operational fund and our directed donation programs. All of our partners and volunteers are required to abide by the principles and regulations that underpin our project:

Our fundamental purpose is to raise as much material and financial support for local food banks as possible. Those participating in the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive may not impose ulterior agendas on any of our events. Our volunteers do not proselytize, sell, or promote any products or ideas which are not directly tied to our fundamental purpose. Community Partners attached to the BCTFD are permitted to promote their own involvement, but only through modest acknowledgments in our flyers and other public notices. We believe there are limitations to what public programs can do in terms of addressing issues such as poverty and hunger, and that responsibility for the well-being of communities – and societies – ultimately rests with their private citizens. The BCTFD does not accept any direct forms of government assistance. We also recognize that principles of charity and selflessness are best served by working for a good cause without expectation of material reward. As such, our project does not offer compensation for the value of any labor performed by its officers or volunteers. In order to protect our communities against fraud and other abuses, we conform to Food Banks British Columbia’s code of ethics. Most specifically, we do not solicit cash contributions door-to-door.

A huge THANKYOU to the 39 students and staff who came out to sort and label the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive - Quesnel items. They were amazing!! They had the pile sorted and labeled in less than 2 hours.
All donations go to Nourish Food Bank.
Thankyou also to the West Quesnel Business Association who supplied the pizza.
We are ssoooo appreciative of the generosity of Quesnel in their donations and time.
Thankyou once again. ☺️

Anyone who did not get their bag picked up or still wants to donate, please bring items to a donation bin at the local grocery stores before September 30 and they will be counted in our overall total.

Tomorrow is the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive - Quesnel PICKUP!!!
Remember to put out your Food bag on your front porch by 9 AM for pickup. Volunteers will pick the bags up and bring to the Sani Station before weighing and going to Nourish Food Bank in Quesnel.
if you don't receive a bag or it isn't picked up please bring to a local grocery store and place in their donation bin.

BC Thanksgiving Food Drive - Quesnel is happening this week!!
Bags will be delivered to your doors one of the following days Sept 18, 19 or 20th.
Please place non-perishable items in the bag (check best before dates please) and place on your doorstep Saturday Sept 23 at 9 AM. Volunteers will be picking up the bags that morning.

If you are missed or don't receive a bag please bring your bag to your nearest grocery store with a donation bin.
If you can't drive please leave a message on BC Thanksgiving Food Drive - Quesnel page.
All donations remain in Quesnel at Nourish Food Bank.

Yeah!!! Thankyou to all who have volunteered to take a route for the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive - Quesnel. We have all the routes filled so start looking for those bags on your doorsteps on one of the following days Sept 18,19 or 20.

Update on volunteers for routes.
We have 1 more route to fill Westland, Westland mobile park, Meadow Wood mobile park, Mt Vista mobile park. The duties entail dropping off the bags Sept 18, 19 or 20 and picking up the filled bags Saturday Sept 23 by 10 Am. Bringing the bags to the Sani dump by the Moffat bridge by 12. September 23, 2023 BC Thanksgiving Food Drive - Quesnel is fast approaching. Some items to consider donating are cereal, kidney beans etc, pork and beans, rice, pasta sauce, canned meat and fish, peanut butter, canned vegetables. Please check expiry dates.

The BC Thanksgiving Food Drive - Quesnel is only 3 1/2 weeks away and we are in desperate need of VOLUNTEERS to take a route.
You will get your route and bags with instructions. The commitment is for bag drop off on doorsteps between September 18-20 with pickup on the September 23. This is a great family activity and a way to help our less fortunate in our community.

The BC Thanksgiving Food Drive committee would like to send a huge THANK YOU to Quesnel residences for their generous donations to the annual BC Thanksgiving Food Drive last year.
We are once again preparing for this year’s FOOD DRIVE.
Bags will be dropped on doorsteps September 19-21 and we will pick them up from your doorstep Saturday September 24. Please have the bags out by 8:30 AM.

All food donated stays in Quesnel. If your bag is missed text Russ @ 250-255-1611 or bring to the Salvation Army Food Bank.

Last year we collected 7,848 pounds of food!
Let’s make this year an even bigger amount!!!
