Our Rangoon Planter sitting pretty - the space was designed by and styled by . It is full of natural materials and its palette evokes the colour of spices. It’s a complete haven from hectic portobello market…go and try the chai and the cardamom buns which will change you forever 🤌🏼
How pretty is The Orangery at ? It was designed by who chose our Mizo Lamps and Asho lampshades as part of the varied lighting scheme 💡🕯️
It’s a beautiful misty morning. Tea in a bed like this watching the birds flit about as dawn breaks is the perfect start to the day. Love how has mixed our bedspread with the dark green and cane. 👌🏼
Creeping out of hibernation? 🍸🥂🍾
🌏 We’ve just launched our HRDD & Environmental Sustainability Manifesto at Kalinko. The dynamic political and economic situation in Burma makes for a challenging operating environment for us and our makers. So we have been working with Deep Trace, a human rights advisory firm, to develop a robust human rights due diligence methodology tracking shifts within the socioeconomic and governance landscape. This helps us to preemptively mitigate risks where possible, and remain flexible and adaptable as things change (as they do daily). You can link to it in our bio. This is an exciting first step on an important track for us. More soon!
It’s going to be c-c-c-o-l-d next week ❄️ up the cushions - there are lots in our winter sale - up to 50% off now
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Welcome back to the land of the living. Arise from the deep mid Christmas. Breathe in the new year and have a browse of our Winter Sale. There’s loads in there to freshen things up for 2024.
Everything you need for a cosy Christmas 🌟
Send the little ones on wild adventures this Christmas with our Kids Collection. Roam the Burmese jungles with our papier mâché animals. Snuggle up for stories with our adorable ele-pals. Crawl around on our playmats and quilts, or have a cosy cuddle on our bestselling bean bags while you get lost in the dream-world of our wall hangings.
And the best bit? The grownups will love them too. These all look beautiful in bedrooms and playrooms. I’m not pretending our playroom isn’t full of lego and giant flashing plastic vehicles, but those get hidden away in baskets at the end of the day while these bits get to stay out all the time...
Ours are gifts which will bring joy long-beyond Christmas Day. Little luxuries to lift the spirits and give long-term soul to their new homes. Presents made by people, with purpose, whose pulse directly connects the maker to their new owner.
Sustainably made, thoughtfully chosen, consciously given.
Our gift guide has a dedicated section for grandparents. They’ve seen it all, they have the best stories. Give them something to talk about and something that means something.
This took three months to make. Three months of carefully applying layers of natural lacquer sap onto the bamboo frame. Each layer dries for a week in a special underground cave. The top layer is eggshell, applied by hand. A masterpiece. And the centrepiece of Christmas for the luckiest households.
There is a direct correlation in our house between the length of winter evenings and the volume of pistachio nut shells
This time last year we ran some focus groups around how our customers were Christmas shopping. Everybody asked for more options under £25.
So we've been hard at work coming up with more lovely things in this range. As is always the case with our products, they must be beautiful, useful and thoughtfully made.
I love the long low light of October…magical 🧡
If you are a ginger root 🫚 THIS is your moment. Time to shine. Help all those autumn slugs out of bed and out of the door in the morning. 💪🏼
Simple, beautiful, functional and direct from the maker 🍋🍎🍊
The bar working hard to keep everybody cool and hydrated 💦🍹🍺
It’s hard to find a great bedside table… good looking, useful shelf, big enough storage, made from sustainable materials. So we made one. And boy are we pleased with it. Handmade from reclaimed teak by our carpenters in Yangon, it is (in our view) the perfect side table. The pretty chevron pattern really shows off the beauty of the teak, and the handmade brass handles are a delightful little finishing touch.
Our Mizo lamp nestled in the incredibly cosy looking spa of .end
This space was designed by - it’s a rare example of a spa looking cosy and homely… so often they’re a bit bland and samey. This one is heaven!
Poppy poppies set off beautifully by our brass jug. Also our tumblers make great little vases. I think we need to make some bud vases…. watch this space 👀
The smartest tray in the land. Large enough for books, bowls, candles and remote controls, it will transform your coffee table. Or ready to house spirits, an ice bucket and glasses, load it up as your in-house bar.
Crowns at the ready… 👑
These guys are taking part in something called a “shin pyu”. It’s the day that young novice monks join the monasteries. They are dressed up like princes and processed through the town, followed by their proud parents. There is loud music and dancing and colour everywhere. It is SO joyful!
The procession ends at the monastery where they are dressed in white robes and have their heads shaved, ready for their immersion into Buddhist life.
Some join the monastery for a few days, others never leave!
Once they
