Douglas Mumaw is a co-founder of the Wyld Men. Without his comedic sense, physical skills, imagination and amazing work ethic, this show would not exist. For two decades he captured hearts and tickled funny bones as Dr Lunch’s wacky sidekick, Seth Sethstherton, until he retired from the role to be able to spend more time at his homestead with his fabulous wife Jennifer. Sad to say it was not all the homecoming he was hoping for. Please read the plea and moving tribute written for and about Doug and Jen by our mutual friend Chris Buehlman, and help out if you can!

Join us on July 6th at 7pm eastern right here on facebook for our next Ren Faire History podcast episode premier!

Our guest for this episode, Dave Dixon, has been a festival staple for many years, performing his very b***y show as Friar Finnigan. In our episode, he talks about the early days of some of the longest running festivals, including Georgia, Ohio as well as every single small renaissance faire in between! He and our host Jonathan ( and Theatre in the Ground ) discuss renaissance festivals and the joys of theatre on the street.

Find Dave Dixon as Friar Finnigan on their social media!

Greetings friends far and wide! Starting today you'll be able to listen to this next Ren Faire History Podcast episode! Please tune in for the live drop at 7pm Eastern, 5pm Arizona time! I'll be there in the chat bar to field comments and questions. It was a great treat to interview Carl (and his family, who will join the conversation in a future episode!). Like me, Carl discovered Ren Faires as a young man. Carl has had a long interesting life and career in and out of Faires as a musician, juggler, knife thrower, singer, and all-around variety entertainer. Our conversations generated a wealth of engaging anecdote, insight and perspective on the Ren Faire life. I am eagerly looking forward to hearing how our stellar producer Victoria Van Arnam has crafted this segment from our long rambling chat! Kudos to her for putting in the behind-the-scenes efforts to make this upcoming cluster of episodes happen!

Podcasts are back!!

Beginning with our Ren Faire History podcast - premiering this Thursday (the 23rd) at 7pm eastern. Join out host Jonathan Crocker (Theatre in the Ground and The Wyld Men) as he interviews musician Carl Asch (as Giacomo the Jester, Empty Hats )!

Weirdly, the Ren Faire world is big enough for TWO professional insulters to have developed highly successful acts independently and with no initial knowledge of each other! Arizona fans of Shamus the Insulter may be interested in the story of the 'other guy'.

You may have caught the Wacky Chickens in years past in Arizona, or at other festivals around the country. Here's a glimpse into the life and times of two of my favorite people and Renaissance Festival performers, Lloyd Brant and Rosie Cole.

Announcing our featured guests for the next episode of the RenFaire History Podcast.

Listen in on Wednesday the 21st at 7pm here on facebook, to hear Jonathan Crocker (of The Wyld Men and Theatre in the Ground) interview long time festival performers Lloyd Brant and Rosie Cole of Theatre of Fools and The Wacky Chicken Show!

The Wacky Chiken Show is inspired by Shakespeare's cock-combed fool, and Theatre of Fools brings you on a hyterical joyride of absurd theatrics with this incredible husband and wife team!

7 pm Tonite! (BTW, regarding the blurb, I don't mean to be enigmatic, it's just that purple stone caveat that flows toward the eternal impasse.)

Maybe this is just what you need right now! Or not... But here's Douglas Kondziolka singing Danny Boy in Bb (we had dreams of a bagpipe) accompanied by Eddie Jeff Cahill
on guitar (in Bb!) and Jonathan Crocker on a spud. Slide potatoes are pan-key! You might need a hanky! (from the album Veggie Music by the Wyld Men -- now on Bandcamp:https://thewyldmen.bandcamp.com/album/veggie-music)

The Fire Pit of Winter is one week away. Feb 26 at 7:30 pm EST. I am open to your suggestions for topics and music. Got anything you want to hear from me?... let me know!
See you soon

I have been working on the next Fire Pit monologue. The best place to think these days has been running the trails of my nearby Park system. Our snow has been sticking around for over 3 weeks which is rare and a kind kind gift. By this time there is usually a cycle of snow then rain then mud going on with mud being the predominant condition.
This year the snow has remained and we now have a foot of powder out there and it is simply gorgeous. The runs have been on quiet trails with very few people so the thinking has been good.
If you have been by one of my Fire Pit chats you know the show is one monologue by me and usually one song. Topics have covered the gamut from generosity to ghosts.
This month if you have anything you want to hear about from me please chime in. I have a plan in place but I am willing to alter and adapt to accommodate what you want to hear.
I look forward to welcoming you back to the Fire Pit. Let me know what you want to hear. See you soon. Feb 26 is a week away!

The Wyld Men do not usually hold ‘normal’ up as our standard for behavior. In any normal year, however, last weekend the Wyld Men would have taken a half day off to gather with friends for the Super Bowl before launching into the relentless final week of rehearsal, set reconstruction, making mud and all the many (oh there are many!) details that go into making our show happen. Then, right about now, following an inspired drum solo by Captain Jimi, the belfry door would crash open, delivering Dr. Cranius Lunch and Chesstherton Sethstherton to the eagerly waiting St. Smithen’s Day crowd! In lieu of ‘normal’, today please enjoy this video flashback to the Wyld Men ‘Seth’ era…Hugs to you all! We’ll be back!
