In my younger and more vulnerable years, I had a tendency to give books as romantic gifts.

I've just realised that for most of the afternoon I've been looking forward to the moment my son walks through the front door.
Not because I love him and miss him and enjoy having him in the house (although, obviously...)
No, it's because he's made chocolate biscuit cake in cookery club and as soon as it comes into the house I will take charge of it, put it on the high shelf of the fridge, test it several times to make sure it's set, then later I'll portion it up, and clear up any crumbs.
Ahem.
