The cities we visited are all stunning, I was particularly struck w Vienna this trip. But my heart also belongs to Budapest, and Paris. Chicago's population is growing. It is one of the world's most beautifuL cities. And it is wonderfuL to be home. ❤️❤️

Could not have been more packed
and the band played brilliantly.
Hopefully more pics.
On to Madrid today.
Love Budapest. Sorry to go. ❌⭕️
In Budapest, at the stunning ARIA Hotel, I presented one of my lecture/performances w the quartet. This subject I also presented with WDCB for my MusicHeads series. I had to adapt it for change of personnel and time. Emma, Greg, and Neal answered my questions about "swing" brilliantly. This is the first of 10 pages of edits. We all had a wonderfuL time. photos by Éva Peterffy ❤️
We had a crazy wonderfuL concert at a SOLD-OUT New Morning last night. Hopefully somebody will have more photos for me. The band, Neal, Emma, Greg kicked it good! It has been too long since I've seen Catherine Farhi, and she feels now like family. I see her mother Madame Farhi at the club - still there, in the dressing room holding my hand and talking to me, behind the bar listening to the concert and holding court, kissing Catherine and the two of them laughing and loving, spreading the love all around. And Christine and Alex - so many. Strangely, playing at The New Morning in Paris feels a bit like going home. What a warm, embracing night. ❤️ 😍😍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
We are in Paris! Join us this evening at The New Morning, 8:30pm. 🎶🎶

This is a clip of my piano solo on "Morpheus" that I transcribed for the sheet music piano/vocal arrangement. Soon I will have three songs notated for the classically trained singer and pianist available at my website. Then I'd like to find a singer to record them for an audio clip other singers can hear. Leadsheets for jazz singers are already available there. (www.patriciabarber.com) 😘😘
And on April 28th in Three Oaks, MI at the Acorn Theater, 7 pm EST, w Larry Kohut on bass, Greg Artry on drums and Neal Alger, on acoustic guitar. getting hands in shape.
I have written and rewritten the solo section of "Morpheus." (fun part of writing piano accompaniment for classically trained singers, writing piano solos.) Nothing is as good as the solo here from a "live" performance. I will transcribe this.
Every now and then the jazz musician gets it just right.
A giant! Wayne Shorter! RIP. 🌹
Wayne Shorter, jazz musician of innovation and introspection, dies at 89 His complex harmonies and lyrical melodies made him one of the most influential saxophonists of the past half-century.
This concert w my trio + guest artist Neal Alger, is a benefit for the School of American Music in Three Oaks, MI. Traveling around the world, I find there is community reward to having music schools/conservatories in villages, cities. People have a place for social contact intertwined w the blessing of MUSIC. For kids, it is the best place to go after school or on weekends. For adults, there are choirs, concerts, lessons, rehearsals. Music schools change lives, villages, cities, countries.
Come to this lovely part of Michigan, so close to Chicago, and stay the night. Lovely hotels, state parks, beaches, trails. Bring your pickleball or tennis raquet and see how easy it is to find a court, a game.

intimate, crystalline
Mostly what I'm doing these days is composing (piano accompaniment to "Morpheus".) But practicing the piano is a pleasure and something I've been doing daily since I was 5 yrs old. 😘
