I love a candid photo. I can choose where to stand, I can get the right settings on my camera, but I can not control what is happening. I just have to be ready to capture the moment and be thankful that I get to do that as a job.

"Put your hands up in the air like you just don't care"

I heard the other day that gen Z is not dancing with their hands in the air. I guess I am showing my age when I am guiding my clients with that line. But hey, I have my hands up in the air so I just don't care.

"I don't know how to pose!"

The couple photosession is probably the moment that most of my clients fear (ex-aequo with the first dance). They do not know what they are going to do with their hands, they do not know which angle is their best, they do not know how to pose together, they feel akward in front of a camera, ... And I hear that, they are not professional models afer all.

But I do not need them to be. I am not taking pictures of poses, I am taking pictures of THEM. So I guide them a bit, I make some jokes, and then I stay silent to let them be themselves and capture their true-selves not the "10 best poses for your wedding photos".

It's not them who is doing the magic, it's me and years of practice ;)

There are the pictures you expect to have: your walk down the aisle, your shared kiss at the end of the ceremony, the two of you dancing, your best friend giving their speech, your families reunited for a photo, ... And there are the others, the ones suspending a moment in time, the ones I as your photographer can see and capture.

Just like this ordinary scene, the bride going down the stairs. The stairs she is taking everyday, to go to work, to the grocery shop, to meet friends. But today it is different, she is wearing her wedding dress and is going to celebrate her love for this one person she decided to share her life with. This simple moment can become a beautiful photograph that you will be happy to have.

Every new wedding dress I photograph becomes my favorite, especially if they have an opened back like Elfie's one.
