Arts-infused strategies and cultural heritage, when advanced with an equity lens in the government planning process, yield positive social outcomes. Employing artists and culture bearers in cross-sector initiatives increases racial justice, belonging, and wellbeing. Further, partnering with the arts and culture ensures a holistic approach to healing, safety, empathy, prevention, and community self-determination.

Arts justice research shows how concentrated cultural districts are associated with reduced poverty without neighborhood displacement, improved child welfare, and lower morbidity rates. And low-income neighborhoods with cultural resources have 14% fewer cases of child abuse and neglect, and 18% less serious crime than low-income neighborhoods without cultural resources.

Art is essential to individual and community transformation. Don’t cut funding to arts & culture in order to balance the budget. CA make smART investments NOW. Arts are a pART of the solution.
