Dejounte Murray inches closer to joining Lakers after latest update

Murray is reportedly one of the Lakers’ top two targets ahead of the league’s trade deadline, which is set for Feb. 8. The other player is Toronto Raptors wing Bruce Brown, someone who is garnering lots of interest across the league.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Lakers are able to pull off a deal with the Hawks in the next couple of weeks. Murray is a one-time All-Star who would bring a versatile skill set on both ends of the floor to L.A.

Lakers Strongly Pursuing Trade for Coveted Swingman, per Report

As the NBA trade deadline approaches, the Los Angeles Lakers consistently find themselves mentioned among many of the biggest rumors every season. But while names like Dejounte Murray, Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan have all been linked in some fashion to the Lakers ahead of this year’s Feb. 8 deadline, their sights appear to be set on a player they’ve attempted to add since free agency, Bruce Brown.

Lakers Rumors: Donovan Mitchell, Trae Young Trades Discussed by LA amid Murray Buzz

The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly had internal discussions about making a play for a legitimate superstar down the line.

According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, the Lakers have talked about potentially packaging three draft picks as well as players in exchange for an All-Star such as Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell or Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young.

They'd have to wait until June's NBA draft for such a scenario, though, as that's when they'll have three first-rounders available for trade.

As for this season, the Lakers have been most frequently liked to Young's backcourt running mate, Dejounte Murray, in recent days.
