I had gotten up early in the morning on my own, after traveling with a group the time alone was as needed. I also knew the magic of a Roman morning that I had missed for years. I had one goal, coffee.

As I walked out to the Roman street it had a silence before the hustle of the day. Walking past a large farmers market being set up for the day, even that hustle and bustle had a silence to it.

I stepped into a Bar with one old Italian man making the first cups of coffee for the day. Mustering up my rusty Italian I ordered a cappuccino and pastry standing at the bar enjoying what I had missed for so long.

Today we celebrate the feast day of St. Faustina.

I spent a morning recently in prayer by her resting place at the Divine Mercy Shrine in Krakow Poland. She lived an extraordinary life of serving the poor and bringing the image of Divine Mercy to all.

Currently I have been slowly reading her diary which is filled with her prayers and words of Christ.

"My daughter...why do you not tell me about everything that concerns you, even the smallest details? Tell Me about everything, and know that this will give Me great joy. I answered, But You know about everything, Lord." And Jesus replied to me, "Yes I do know; but you should not excuse yourself with the fact that I know, but with childlike simplicity talk to Me about everything, for my ears and heart are inclined towards you, and your words are dear to Me." ~ Mary Faustina Kowalska

Bishops, priest, parishes, lay ministers and parishioners it is Jesus that they are seeking.

It is Jesus that we have in our tabernacles and adoration chapels.

Let us take this time to change hearts. We are in the midst of a revival.

And it is Jesus that we seek.

Revival doesn’t have a logo.

With all of the buzz of the we can’t help but think but what about Catholics.

In the next couple of years the USCCB has come together to begin an Eucharistic Revival starting at the Diocese level this year then in parishes and hopefully ending in changed hearts.

Over 60% of Catholics do not believe that the Eucharist is the body, blood, soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is the source and summit of our faith.

We have a problem.

Just about 90% of pew sitting Catholics are not a disciple. Meaning they haven’t made the choice to intentionally follow and have a relationship with Christ.

We have a problem.

Here is the thing tho, where we can prepare for a Eucharist Revival. We are clearly lacking. And I wouldn’t argue we are lacking in theology. But we are lacking in relationship.

As we watch a take place on campuses and around the US with our young people you can’t help but notice the community forming. The relational ministry taking place. The need for others. Something we were stripped of for years.

A revival with a logo, Instagram page or even a set strategic timeline isn’t going to change hearts. That may sound harsh and I am not against the Eucharistic Revival, it gives us a place to focus.

But God isn’t on a timeline. God has a plan.

As Catholics we know this “feeling of Jesus present in this room” revival is happening in Adoration chapels 24/7 a day. We have this happening all over the world. We experience Heaven meeting Earth every time we celebrate Mass.

We have the greatest good on Earth.

We have it. And we are really bad at sharing it. And we walk away from it all he time, because this church has better music, a coffee bar, better youth group, childcare, or whatever it maybe.

Yet, it is a He who still patiently waits for you in a tabernacle. The same He who knocks on the door to your heart. The same He who starts revival.

A revival has already started, it just depends on who you will share it with.

Catholics, we can do better. It is then that hearts will be changed.

Hurry before peanut butter eggs take over!

For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
