More photos of St Mary's Peak
Ash and Koen decided to climb St Mary's Peak which is 1171m above sea level.
They left from Wilpena Pound and they took the outside track which is 7.5 km to the peak but with lots of rock climbing.
They stayed at the peak for about 10 - 15 minutes as it was extremely cold.
On the way back they chose to take a different track. This track was longer 13km back to Wilpena Pound but it was, not as rocky and had little climbing. They say it was a long walk back down but relatively easy compared to the path they took up.
Arriving back in Wilpena Pound just on darkness. Ash did pack a torch just in case but they didn't need it.
Ash and Koen, really enjoyed this hike, both saying at times it push them to almost their limit. They say being above the clouds and the view was totally worth it!
Overall they hiked 22km in 7 hours.
Dakota and I are super proud of them for taking on this challenge.
A 1 in a million chance encounter with long-time friends staying also in Rawnsley Station saw us join them on the Arkapena 4WD Track.
On this track we got to explore historical sites, creek beds, Chase and ABC Ranges.
Approx 4.5 hours
Cost $50 + $10 refundable key deposit.
Ferntree Waterfall, 4.7km hike with an elevation gain of 93m.
A moderate hike but very rock.
The waterfall was not flowing but the dry rocks were still stunning.
Nothing better than a quick camping trip to recharge the batteries.
We decided on Wilpena Pound, staying at Rawnsley Park Station.
Today Koen got to experience Motorkhana at Mallala. He had very limited experience driving a manual before today but, can now comfortably say he knows how to drive a manual and definitely has better car handling skills.
Thank you Murray and Karen for providing Koen with this amazing opportunity and lending him your car.
Thank you Murray for spending the day teaching Koen as well as being his navigator.
School holiday fun with a great group of mates.
Lots of 🤣 had by all!

Spent our last day having a look around the Opera House and a nice lunch at the Vienna Coffee Co. In the Queen Victoria Building.
Little video of our experience!
Rain, Rain and more Rain. But heaps of Fun for the Whole family!
Well we kept up with the kids for at least half of the day 😆
We enjoyed dinner at Betty's Burgers & Concrete Co.
We walked down to Circular Quay Railway Station, catching the ferry to Sydney Olympic Park and then back to Darling Harbour.
Love looking at all the different buildings.
How beautiful is the Queen Victoria Building.
It has not stopped raining since we arrived. I took some time to take a walk through this beautiful building.
When it's crazy weather outside, at least they can still have fun at the hotel in the pool, spa and sauna.
Dinner was had at Cyren Bar & Grill on Darling Harbour.
Food was really nice. Great location, and View of the harbour lights.
We should have ordered Koen an adult size meal. Lucky for him Dakota's not a big eater, I shared some of my yummy Angus Rump Steak too.
Train ride to Bondi Beach.
OMG the weather was even crazier ☔️🌧 at Bondi!
We were soaked through, drowned 🐀
Kids and Ash were loving it!
We decided to have a drink in the club rooms and dry off a bit before heading back.
What to do when the weather is crazy?
Paddy's Market and train ride to.......
Jacks, Beer, Raspberry & Coke at Bondi
WOW what an experience!
Can't believe we did this in this crazy weather!
Our faces were getting smashed with the rain, the wind was quite powerful at times. But we did it!
It took the experience to the next level.🌁
A very rainy day in . We enjoyed a lovely lunch at in with Heath.
It was really lovely of Heath to travel by train for 2 hours to meet us. It was great to catch up after many years.
Very early start to the day, especially for Ash!
It's not the cruise that was planned in 2020, but making the most of our unused flight credits.
On arrival at the hotel we were greated with some awesome macaroons. The best I have ever tasted!
Kids were stoked when they saw our apartment, our view is incredible.
We had a slow first day, went for a swim, sat in the spa, sauna then swam some more.
