‘Can I get lashes that last beyond 4-6 weeks?’

This is all depending on a various number of things.

The lifespan of your extensions will depend on wear and tear, lifestyle, natural lash growth cycle, skin type, etc.

All of these factors will affect how quickly you shed your natural lashes and the extensions.

As the extension is applied to your natural lash, it will fall out at the same time as the natural lash cycle has completed. ✅
(Please keep in mind that everyone’s natural lash cycle length varies).

However, if your extensions aren’t kept clean, or you are picking/pulling at your extensions, this will have a negative impact on the retention.

Here’s a quick Lash Tip & Reminder for either yourself or your clients:

If you have just gotten your lashes done, be sure to not let them come into contact with water within 24-48 hours after the service! 💧

This is because, the chemical bonds that are in the glue are still curing, and by applying moisture to this, it could cause the opposite reaction.

It would be the same as applying water to glue, instead of having the glue stick and bond - the water will wash away the contents of the glue.

If you need to have a shower after your service, we recommend to avoid washing your face.

Allowing the glue to cure even further after the service will help the chemicals bond properly - which will then result in your retention being greater. 🤍

“Is the Eyelash Extension Application comfortable?”

YES! ✅

It is such a comfortable process that most of our clients become so relaxed they fall asleep! 💤

During the application, you are reclined on a massage bed with specialty leg and neck pillows with the eyes closed. You will have someone work on you, while you’re able to rest. It’s like going to get a facial 💆🏼‍♀️💗

Eyelash Extensions are to be known as a form of Self - Care 💁🏼‍♀️, so be sure to take full advantage of the 2 hour process of when you are getting your lashes done!

Your Lash Technician will be sure that you are comfortable throughout the whole process. If anything was to occur where you find yourself needing to take a break, have a stretch or move around, be sure to communicate with your Lash Tech so they can accomodate your needs ❤️

Do you know the correct and efficient way of Sterilising your Tools?

The only tool that you should be using from one client to the next are your tweezers. So, it is essential that they are thoroughly sterilised between each client ✨.

The most effective steriliser is Isopropyl Alcohol. This can be applied onto wipes or placing your tweezers into a bowl of it for at least 30 seconds. 🤎

Sterilising your Tools in between clients will assist in minimising the transfer of dirt, oil, glue residue or further reactions from one Client to another. This will ensure that your Tools are thoroughly cleaned, so you are able to complete a Full set beautifully. 🥰

WHEN TO BRUSH YOUR EXTENSIONS? 🤍

It is very important that we are not over brushing our extensions, as this can actually lead to poor retention 👎🏻.

We need to make sure that we are brushing our extensions:

* In the morning
* After cleansing them
* After the shower
* After washing your face
* After applying makeup

By only brushing your extensions during the moments listed above, it helps maintain the overall look of your extensions - so they aren’t messy or out of place.

If we aren’t brushing our extensions when they are wet, during the drying process, you might find that the lashes may become a bit hard as the extensions all dry together - brushing them out will avoid this, and help put them back in place 🎉.

OIL IS YOUR ENEMY! 🙅🏼‍♀️🚫

Did you know, that Oil actually breaks down the chemical bonds that are within the adhesive used on your extensions?

This is why your Lash Tech may have encouraged you to avoid applying any products that contain Oil around your eyes.

If you have Oily skin, this may also be a reason as to why your retention is poor - If this is the case, be sure to cleanse your extensions once per day to avoid buildup of any oils that your skin has produced ❤️

Oil is a serious threat to the adhesive bonding that keeps your extensions attached to your lashes. For that reason, you need to avoid using any oil based eyeliners, mascara or makeup products 🙅🏼‍♀️.

In our courses, we cover numerous examples and reasons as to what products break down the chemical bond, and why it’s important that we avoid using these.

Happy Thursday everyone! Today is a tip directly from our Assistant Trainer and Manager here at LXA Academy ☺️.

A way to help minimise the time spent on your refills, is to be sure that every one of your clients are cleansing their extensions before each appointment.

Not only will this help their refill process go quickly and smoothly, because the natural lashes have already been prepped for application, but it will also ensure that your clients are taking regular, consistent care towards their extensions.

This will also help the glue cure and attach correctly as you have a clean base to work with! This helps minimise any issues that may arise with your glue, and you’ll be able to identify exactly what needs to be altered for the curing process to work. 🥰

LASH FACT FRIDAY! ✨

Happy Friday everyone! We are back again sharing another Lash Fact to finish off this week!

Did you know that there are different Lash Maps to accomodate for Different Eye Shapes?

Lash Mapping is a very useful method to create a set of extensions that will not only blend perfectly, but will create symmetry between both eyes, and have your client leaving with a beautiful, full set ❤️.

The most popular Lash Maps are known as , Open Eye, Natural, Cat Eye, Baby Doll etc. This is where you use different lengths within your set to achieve the desired effect 😇.

Trainer Tip Thursday 💖

Todays training tip is coming directly from our Assistant Trainer, Sydnie.

It is very important that we are storing our glue correctly in order for the bonding agents in the glue to cure properly during application.

Did you know, that if stored at room temperature, the shelf life of an unopened glue is approximately 6 months?
If stored in the fridge, the shelf life can be between 12-15 months if unopened 👀

It is very important to know that Cyanoacrylate Adhesives are moisture sensitive. This means, the moisture and chemicals in these particular glues help the bonding agents set and cure.

If you keep your glue stored where it is unlikely to reach too much moisture, it is likely to last up to 8 weeks!

Here at LXA Academy, we recommend the best place to store your glue is in an airtight package/container, with a sachet of silica.

Once you are ready to use your glue, be sure to give your glue a really good shake. This helps activate the glue. Be sure that your glue dot is at the right consistency. It should not be watery OR have any air bubbles.

Apply your glue dot onto a cool surface, such as your Jade Stone, and you are ready ! 🥰

The Natural Lash Line 🌸

It is extremely important that during the application process, we are applying the extensions no closer than 0.5mm away from the Natural Lash Line. If we apply the extensions too close, or too far away, it will result in damage, and irritation created towards the client.

If you place the extensions too close, you run the risk of applying the base of the extension directly to the skin of the clients lid. This is a DEFINITE NO 🚫. This will not only affect the natural lash growth, but it will also cause extreme discomfort to your clients as the bases are quite sharp.

However, if we place the extensions too far away from the Natural Lash Line, this will result in damage being created to your clients lashes. This is because if the extensions are applied incorrectly, the weight of the extensions can actually cause your clients natural lashes to snap, or be prematurely pulled out.

The Natural Lash Line is something that we educate each of our students on HEAVILY, during the process of assessing their work. We provide them with tips to ensure they are keeping that safe distance, and we monitor the exact placement of the extension so the application process has been done smoothly and correctly. ❤️

AFTER CARE ❕

After Care is so important when it comes to taking care of our Extensions. And as Lash Technicians, we should be educating our clients directly on what products are safe to use around your clients Eyelash Extensions 💗

Avoid applying ANY Oil-Based Products. Oil can actually break down the bonding agents that are within the glue used to attach the extensions. This will only result in your clients retention being poorly, and will not last as long as it should.

Be sure that you are cleansing your extensions with a Lash Cleanser provided to you by your Lash Tech. Cleanse your extensions daily, as this will help remove any buildup around the extensions caused by makeup, dead skin etc ❕

NO MASCARA! You don’t need to apply any mascara to your extensions. If you would like to apply mascara to your bottom lashes, be sure that you are applying an Oil free product, and you are removing the product before the day is over.

1. Can I wear makeup with my Lashes?
YES! Although we don’t recommend wearing any mascara that isn’t extension sage or oil-based products, as it will shorten the life of your lash extensions. Be sure to avoid applying makeup too close around the eye area 🌸.

2. How do I care for my Lash Extensions?
Do not get the lashes wet for the first 24-48 hours including: Steam, Tears, Showering, Swimming. Be sure to cleanse your extensions on a day to day basis, especially after wearing makeup 🥰.

It is really important that as Lash Artists we are educating our clients on the importance of Aftercare and using the right products around their Extensions to ensure they’re retention is lasting as long as possible. ❤️
