I started sewing on a machine when I was 15yrs old. It was an outlet for me to express myself emotionally and creatively. When I felt like I didn’t have a voice or no one could hear me, my style would start the conversation. I’m so grateful for being able to create the space for my students to do the same. In honor of National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day, our students worked on hand sewing techniques to continue the current quilt that is 65.5 miles long. The quilt panel is essentially folk art and continue to remember the lives that were effected.
