Spent last weekend doing some doe management with with the rifles.

got it done again, this time on an Ohio stud! Having a heck of a season bud!

That feeling when bow season is a wrap…. Not much of a gun hunter and I’m sure I’ll be out in the late season but today marks the end of the time of year we all look forward to and work for all year long. Tomorrow, November 15th brings the orange army to Michigan. Good luck to all the gun hunters out there.

This season has been one of the toughest yet one of the best seasons to date. I personally haven’t punched a tag yet, but after 10 days in Colorado chasing elk I had less days in the woods to chase whitetail than years past, so I hunted harder and much more aggressive than ever before. The result? Many mistakes and many lessons learned but also more encounters with targets bucks than I’ve ever had in a single season. I was at full draw 5 times yet couldn’t quite seal the deal. It’s extremely frustrating, yet rewarding in its own way.

For now, the fire still burns deep and I’ll keep pushing trying to notch a tag before the end of the year, but also am back on the grind preparing for the 2024 Elk season which kicked off with a 5k run today. Something I haven’t done since Elk season started in September.

Good friend and pro archer got it done in Ohio! We love to see it!

We wait all year for days like today!

Like most weeknights I couldn’t make it to the woods to hunt but with the activity heating up i decided to still make the trip to one of the properties to do some glassing. It was very productive and just might help make a plan for the weekend!

Things are heating up in the Whitetail woods and we can’t wait for the weekend, but also can’t help but to think back on the mountains of Colorado chasing elk… 2 totally different games, both equally as fun and difficult in their own ways.

Second buck of 2023 hits the ground.

decided to mix things up and hit some local public land with his mobile set up. Opportunity presented itself and he put a Michigan Public land 7pt on the ground!

For those of you that hunt public land especially here in Michigan, you know that it’s extremely pressured and tough hunting, especially when that’s not your full investment for the season. Heck of an accomplishment to go in on your first sit and even see a deer let alone get a shot on a buck.

Now Zaynes headed back to his normal stomping grounds to work on his hit list bucks.
