Wearing my own designs out in the wild is always the coolest thing ✂️🏔️🧵
I made this tartan bodice using vintage fabric & vintage ribbon! Paired with second hand jeans and cotton blouse, (also vintage👌)
Currently developing this sewing pattern so I can make more in other fabrics and sizes…stay tuned!👀🫶

Currently editing my next YouTube video, which is a creative project inspired by my favourite flowers, the bluebell!🪻
Being unwell over the past two weeks meant cancelling various plans, including a visit to my favourite bluebell woodland whilst it was in full bloom. 🥲
So I’m reminiscing on last year, where I got to share the forest with my lovely friend who took these gorgeous photos! 🥰📸
Also, shout out to .bird.tattoo for the beautiful ink! 🌙🌿
Wearing the ‘cottagecore’ set of my own design, created using a vintage table cloth and vintage lace which I hand dyed. This piece has since sold, thank you! 💜
Being a sustainable designer, for me, means being completely in love with the natural world, and I like to share my little corner of the planet with you here and there when I can! 🌎

Available - Daisy Regency inspired gown 🌼
Handmade from vintage, 1970’s butter-yellow cotton scattered with embroidered daisies, and trimmed with second hand bridal lace and satin ribbon.
I created this piece for myself, and after wearing it for many events and photoshoots over the last couple of years, I’ve decided to part with it and let someone else treasure it! 💛
This gown was debuted at York Fashion Week 2022 and has since been worn for photoshoots with photographers like & , and I also wore it to last summer. 📜
I’m going to make space for some new regency gowns and so this one is now available to purchase.
It would best fit someone tall, and can fit Small/Medium sizes.
Bust is approximately 36 inches, Underbust is 35 inches. The white satin ribbon can pull it in tighter which is what I’ve been doing as I made it a little too big for me.
This will be available on eBay as part of my spring costume sale on Sunday 28th April, 18:00 BST. Bidding starts at £80.00 or buy it now is £150.00.
Link to my eBay shop is in my bio. 🙏

New account alert! 📣 I’ve been thinking of doing this for a while, but I’ve decided to start a second account for my work which will be over at .by.meglaraatelier 👗
(Still unsure about the name but it will do for now!)
I’ve been struggling with my main account being somewhere between a brand and a content creator page, and so I thought it would be helpful to set up a second account that will essentially be a face-less version of .lara.atelier !
(And act ad a back-up account if I ever needed one) 🗝️
So a little less personal, more like a portfolio of my work that’s away from the chaos of reels and content creation. A place where you can go see images of stuff I’ve made basically and not much else. Just let the art speak for itself!
🖼️🖼️🖼️
I hope that makes sense! I’ll still be sharing my work, my processes and all my usual stuff as normal on .lara.atelier so don’t worry, nothing is changing over here. But if you want to see my designs laid out nice and neat then feel free to follow me over at .by.meglaraatelier as well where I’ll be doing just that. (Absolutely no pressure though of course!) 👗🙂
Also, you might be wondering why this new account has a bunch of followers already! It’s because I had a small business called ‘The Crafterlife’ where I did local alterations etc and built up a small following. I don’t do that work anymore, so I thought I would re-vamp the account and use it for this instead. If you’re a follower from The Crafterlife and you’re not interested in my new account, that’s absolutely fine. I won’t be offended if you want to unfollow, and I appreciate you supporting my previous venture 💛
Also, also, shout out to for my awesome logo which I’ve been using for a while now but haven’t really shared! 🥰✍️
That’s everything for now! I hope that makes sense and feel free to DM me if you have any questions.
Meg xx

Valentine’s faerie corset…🧚‍♀️🥀
I create this set by up-cycling a second hand bralette with a second hand lace top that I chopped up, and several off-cuts of fabric and trimmings! Finished with red satin ribbons and beaded flower petals for an extra whimsical touch…✨🥀
This set sold a while back now, but I still love it and kind of want to make more in other colours…💭🤔

Photos from Meg Lara Atelier's post 26/01/2024

Realised I never actually shared any static images of this gown and it’s one of my fave up-cycles! 🥰🖤🪡
The original dress is from the 1960’s, but it was torn in lots of places, has sweat stains and some of the velvet had been crushed with an iron at some point so it was very unlikely this would ever sell. I actually got it from a vintage seller who was clearing out items that were damaged and I’m so happy this one came to me! ❤️‍🩹 There was also no chance of it ever fitting me unless I altered/expanded it, and I’m so glad I did because I will wear and treasure this now for years to come. 🙏 🖤
Other details: The fabric I used at the back was an off-cut piece a family friend gifted me, the gold fabric was second hand and the droplet jewels were taken from a necklace I found in the charity shop 🥰♻️
I wore this to a ball last year hosted by 🏰

Guys…I’m on a book cover! 🥹📖
Ahhh I knew this photoshoot me and did a few years back would be special! ✨🌅 I made this gown years ago from two pairs of second hand curtains I found in one of my local charity shops, and this sunset shoot has always been one of my absolute favourites. I called the gown the ‘heather maiden’ gown, so we shot on the moors near my home when all the heather was in bloom and it was pure magic! ✨🌾 📸
One of our images was picked up for a Slovakian romance novel and I can’t get over how cool that is. I can’t read Slovakian haha but I might have to get myself a copy for my bookshelf just to show off to my friends hehe 📚

Finally got a couple of pieces out of my Victorian gown collection to display at a local textile heritage event! Thank you to for having me, it was so great to chat to the community about these pieces and learn more about how textiles has shaped our history here in Huddersfield! 👗🧵🏭
These are two original Victorian gowns I acquired (kind of by accident!) a few years ago along with a several other pieces from the 1890’s-1920’s. They stay safely packed away in my studio for the majority of the time, but I would love to share the collection with you if you would like to see them? Let me know, maybe I can start a little series on here where we go through each piece one by one! (I only have one mannequin that’s small enough to fit them haha! 🎩👗🪡

My take on Thumbelina’s dress…how did I do? 🥰
👗🧚‍♀️✨
Unfortunately I don’t have floor length ginger hair or know how to style a wig haha but I actually quite liked the more ‘organic’ look in the end! Whilst I’m not primarily a cosplayer, it’s been really fun doing some cosplays here and there and I hope to do some more in future! 😍

It’s been a lot. 😅 I’m so exhausted and yet I can’t seem to stop thinking about new ideas and projects for next year…💭 Pls can someone tell my brain to have a rest 🤣🤦‍♀️

A little 💫throwback💫 to my ‘Spellbound’ collection last year I showcased at !
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about creating another collection but I really want to push the boat out with what I can create and do something on a larger, (and slightly more *dramatic*) scale... 👗✂️
I have ideas floating around in my mind that I feel quite excited about ! As always though, I wonder where the time and resources are to brings my wild visions to life 🤣💭

The final images from this awesome shoot with ! 🥰🦋🌿
I’m not actually wearing my own designs here, instead a beautiful pair of wings by Elle and a vintage dress she brought with her 🥰
Swipe for some BTS images to see the reality of shooting in the north in February! (That’s a hot water bottle down my corset 🤣)

More images from this magical shoot! 🥰🦋
It was early hours one February morning when myself and headed out into the woods earlier this year to catch the sunrise! 🌞
Elle brought her camera and her wings, and I brought my costumes and myself! You wouldn’t know from these photos how cold it was, I even had a hot water bottle shoved down my corset at one point 🤣🥶

Patchwork faerie 🥰🧵🦋🪡
I realised I never shared some of these images myself and collaborated on back in February this year! Here I’m wearing my 18th century stays which I made from fabric found in charity shops and scrap bins, and my patchwork bloomers, made entirely from fabric scraps! 🙌
The scraps are all the leftovers from creating my ‘Arcadia’ collection last year. Check out my Arcadia page under my ‘guides’ tab or my YFW story highlights to see the full collection! 🥰
I’m also wearing a beautiful pair of fairy wings made by which are likewise, made from fabric off-cuts! ♻️✂️🦋

Happy Yorkshire Day to my fellow shire-folk! 🙌🌳
As a proud Yorkshire Lass I wanted to post something to celebrate! The white rose has been a symbol for Yorkshire for centuries, so it was only fitting I shared my most white-rose-ey themed creations to date. It’s also wedding season still and each one of these would be (and have been!) perfect for a whimsical wedding 🥰
Which would you choose? Swipe to see the before and after of each piece 👉♻️
