Agapornis World
Agapornis personatus with Sam Gibbs! I keep and breed Agapornis personatus, commonly known as Masked Lovebirds.
Even though there is such an array of beautiful mutations within this species, I am concentrating on a select few and working towards clean, genetically pure lines. I'm a BVA judge and sometimes visit other countries to give seminars and judge shows. I have a deep interest in genetics and learning more about these amazing birds.
Hello everyone, how are we all doing?
Notice the new name? When I return to the hobby I will be sticking with the genus Agapornis, of course, but I will no longer be breeding only personatus. 🤫
Hopefully I will have birds for the 2025 season, if all goes to plan.
I still have to write an article about my fantastic experience judging in Pakistan with Agapornis Club of Pakistan - just don't have the time to sit down and think about it at the moment! Busy couple of years!
There are several more judging trips planned for this year which I am really looking forward to. I won't say where because I'm not sure I can disclose it yet.
I will be judging the Lovebird Society show in the UK though this September, so hopefully see a few birds there!
Speak soon!

Choosing the Best in Show fischeri. 🏆🏆🏆
And what an incredible bird it was! I’ll share the winning birds at a later date when the proper photos come through. These little videos are more about the trip, the people, their hospitality and the atmosphere. Oh and the food. I love food. As you can tell. 😜
Talking of atmosphere… 🤯🤯😂
ACP Mega Event - Choosing the Best in Show fischeri 🏆🥇 #champion #acp
Choosing the winner of the Opaline green fischeri series. This was an important one - big class with very stiff competition. The crowd had understandably thinned out by now because it was knocking on midnight … yes, midnight!! 🤯 and yet there was still a healthy number of die-hard enthusiasts there keeping the atmosphere pumping! 🏆🤟

I didn’t manage to get any footage inside the event - too busy judging! I’m sure there’s plenty out there so I’ll put something together when I’m home. I did get some reactions though. Open judging, people can watch you judge the birds. Adds a real atmosphere! Something we should really learn from in Europe!

The ACP show yesterday was awesome. Big show, massive turn out and an incredible team running things. I won’t go into too much detail as I will do a proper write up when I get home.
The tallies came in to 2147 birds - and I judged them all by myself 😂. That has to be some kind of record, right? 17 hours straight, judging birds with just a 20 minute break 🤯. Thing is - I was game! The atmosphere kept me buzzing and I didn’t want to stop. I know many breeders had travelled long distances and I didn’t want to leave anyone disappointed.
The winning birds were astonishing. I know a big chunk of Pakistan’s breeders see it as a business and more power to them, but it was super refreshing to see the flip side where breeders are focusing on quality and producing exhibition birds that could comfortably win the toughest exhibitions in Europe. I’m certain this trend will grow and with events like this, we’ll see more breeders focusing on show quality.
As usual, the hospitality has been amazing. Really nice people, very welcoming and friendly. Islamabad is a very peaceful, quiet city. Clean, tidy and very green. The temperature is comfortable and the food is amazing.
Met some old friends and made plenty of new! Great to see Naveed Sheikh again. Gutted I couldn’t spend more time catching up, but the birds weren’t going to judge themselves 😅 I mean, he’s like some legendary rock star now so I’m sure he was kept busy himself 😂❤️.
Huge respect to Adnan Saleem and his incredible team. Proper sacrifices have been made to pull off such an event. Respect.

It's been a long time since I seen my bird friends - i'm really looking forward to it! Anyone else going?
I still have no birds, but I am currently checking out houses and hopefully one day I can build a bird room and start again!
There are a couple of judging trips planned and I will document these on my social media platforms. Stay tuned!
No birds anymore, but I'm still rocking my Agapornis mug from the guys in Denmark 💚🤪
Hope you're all well! Any gossip? 😁
