We have about a hundred days to save our democracy ...
We just learned that President Joe Biden has announced he will "step down" from the 2024 race to be re-elected and has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris with his full support ...
At the Democratic Party national convention next month, the Indianapolis Star reported, "...Indiana Democrats don’t technically have to vote for Biden, thanks to a 'good conscience' clause in Democratic delegate selection rules....Rule 13(J) states that 'delegates elected to the national convention pledged to a presidential candidate shall in all good conscience reflect the sentiments of those who elected them.' It’s existed since the 1980s, but has never affected a nomination." Indiana has 88 delegates to the national convention which has a total of 3,896 delegates.

IRS v Republicans in Congress
US Department of Treasury announced Thursday that it has collected more than $1 billion in back taxes from a small group of wealthy taxpayers under President Biden's Inflation Reduction Act.
From NYT 7/11/2024: The [Internal Revenue Service] has been undergoing a $60 billion modernization initiative aimed at improving its customer service and catching wealthy tax evaders. The Biden administration, which initially signed a law giving $80 billion to the agency, continues to contend with attempts by Republicans in Congress to claw back more of the money. As a result, the administration has been trying to demonstrate that the funds are being put to good use by bringing in additional tax revenue that has been going uncollected....The I.R.S. targeted 1,600 taxpayers with more than $1 million of income who owed more than $250,000 in tax debt.
From Treasury: The IRS in 2023 launched a new initiative to pursue high-income, high-wealth individuals who have failed to pay recognized tax debt, with dozens of senior employees assigned to these cases. This campaign is concentrated among taxpayers with more than $1 million in income and more than $250,000 in recognized tax debt.
“President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act is increasing tax fairness and ensuring that all wealthy taxpayers pay the taxes they owe, just like working families do,” said U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen.

John Krull: What’s missing from the ruling is any recognition of the tragic reality with which it deals.
The reason Donald Trump seeks immunity is there is credible evidence he, as president, betrayed his oath of office and broke fundamental laws.
A Supreme Court immune from law or logic America will be a long time recovering from the damage Donald Trump has done to our institutions—and the rule of law itself.
HCR: Yesterday the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget compared the $8.4 trillion debt approved by Trump to the $4.3 trillion approved by Biden. It estimated Trump’s tax cuts for the rich and corporations cost $4.8 trillion, which as Allison Gill of Mueller, She Wrote pointed out, is more than the $4.3 trillion cost of Biden’s “Infrastructure bill, Inflation Reduction Act, American Rescue Plan, CHIPs [and Science Act], PACT [expanding health benefits to veterans exposed to toxic substances and burn pits], student debt forgiveness, and funding the IRS COMBINED.”
Go Trish!
