Luck Alumni Scholarship Fund Association

The Luck Public High School has been educating students since 1921. We are more than just a scholarship fund. The Luck Alumni Scholarship Foundation, Inc.

This new Luck Alumni Scholarship Foundation Association was formed to raise money to be used for scholarships and other projects. (LASFI) was formed in 2009, to raise money for graduating seniors. So far, the single best way to raise these funds is through our annual “ask” letter. Some donors have taken the time to fill out comments when sending in their donations, and we realized there is a commo

n theme: Donors want to do more than just help graduating seniors. As a response to those comments, the following programs are in process.
• Annually, the Luck Alumni Scholarship Fund provides $500 to the Luck School for
classroom supplies. This money buys supplies needed by both students and teachers and helps close a gap between school funding and daily needs.

• Cardinal Safety Nest to be used by all teachers if they have a student in special need. Since teachers often know exactly who these students are, we have come up with a simple request form to submit to the Community Education Director when a need arises. At this point, our board views the funds going for things like field trips, backpacks, clothing, lunch money, etc. We hope to help students overcome hardships they face. The Luck Alumni Scholarship Foundation is continuing the program with an annual $1,000 donation, which is separate from the $500 already given for classroom supply needs.

• The Eugene Wynn Memorial Learning Dock is now in the water and ready for use by
teachers and students. The fund has numerous benefactors and the Luck Alumni Scholarship Fund made a significant contribution to bring this idea into a reality.

• Still under discussion: the creation of a Luck Alumni Wall of Honor. This idea will
encourage nominations of past and present faculty & students for special recognition.

• 2020 & COVID-19. Well, it is a different year, almost nothing is normal. 2020 has
brought many changes to all our lives. Our students were faced with many challenges to finish out the year, every task had to be re-invented, sporting events were cancelled, extra-curricular events and clubs postponed, and graduation was held on the football field with social distancing and face masks. Through it all, our Luck School has continued to support students and families. The support has covered so many facets of life, from remote education to nutrition and everything in-between. As we navigate the new school year, our Luck Alumni Scholarship Fund Association will be partnering with the school to evaluate any needs that our fund might be able to support in this ‘different’ year.

A tradition of respect

In partnership with the American Legion Post 255 and the Legion Auxiliary, the Luck School District’s Memorial Day program will be held next Monday, May 27 at 10:30AM in the High School gym. Everyone is welcome to attend! The program will include performances by the Luck School Band, a POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony, and a Memorial Day address from Post Commander Dave King.
