A little helpful information as things start to thaw.

🌡️ Thawing alert! As temperatures rise above freezing, frozen pipes will start to defrost. When pipes freeze, the ice inside expands, posing a risk of cracks or bursts.

🔎 Once the thaw begins, be on the lookout for water leaks inside or around the outside of your home. If you suspect a serious issue or cannot identify which pipe is frozen, call a plumber to avoid costly repairs and potential hazards.

⚠️ If no water comes out, a pipe may have burst. You will need to turn your water off as soon as possible! Contact your City Utility Department to assist in turning off your main water line. Also call your City Utility Department if you suspect or identify a water leak.

💦 If there is only a slight trickle, try running water through the pipe for awhile or apply gentle heat to the pipe using a warm towel. This may help clear any ice or blockage. DO NOT USE A BLOW TORCH OR ANYTHING WITH AN OPEN FLAME! This could cause serious damage to your pipe and waterline and could even start a fire.
