Our meeting with Senator Ed Kennedy for Mass Power Forward’s Lobby Day went very well. There were three bills on the Progressive Mass legislative agenda that he hadn't cosponsored yet, and he agreed to cosponsor all of them! Thanks to all who were able to attend, and for Mass Power Forward for arranging the meeting!

We’re here at tonight’s City Council meeting and a certain member is conspicuously not present! Tonight we encourage the City Council to establish a means to censure and possibly expel any CC members who are dangerous or commit serious crimes. We ask that Corey Robinson step aside until the legal proceedings against him have concluded.

Why your mood could affect your flu shot Genes play a major role. But exercise, a good mood, plenty of sleep and a gut-healthy diet could improve how we respond to shots.

We are proud to announce our endorsements for 2023!

CONGRATULATIONS to:

Stacey Thompson, District 1, for School Committee
Wayne Jenness, District 4, for City Council
Susie Chhoun, District 5, for City Council
Vesna Nuon, for City Council At-Large

Thank you to everyone who participated in this process!

Our endorsement process:

- Once candidates’ nominations were final and campaigns were underway, Solidarity Lowell--in conjunction with community members and other organizations--assembled a list of relevant questions for each candidate based on current concerns to the city.

- These questionnaires were sent to each candidate who has (an) opponent(s). A deadline was set for the return of these questionnaires.

- Those running unopposed werenot eligible for endorsement.

- Any candidate who returned their completed questionnaire by the deadline was then invited to participate in the Solidarity Lowell Candidate Forum.

- In this forum, candidates were asked two questions from the Solidarity Lowell Coordinating Committee that pertained to the responses the candidate gave on their questionnaire, and two questions from audience members.

- After the forum, ballots were emailed to each voting member of Solidarity Lowell (those who had attended three or more meetings in the previous year) and a deadline was set for them to be returned.

- After the deadline, those voted for by a simple majority were endorsed and notified, and an announcement was made.

Illinois Democrats drew new maps. They pushed the GOP to the right. Kevin McCarthy’s ouster from the U.S. House speakership reflected a push toward the fringe caused in part by gerrymandered districts. The congressional map in Illinois offers a prime example.

September shattered global heat record — and by a record margin 03/10/2023

Must be fake news. Fossil fuel industry, big business, and most Republicans would like us to believe climate change is a myth. Clearly, we can't continue to live in that fantasy world.

September shattered global heat record — and by a record margin Temperatures around the world last month were at levels closer to normal for July.
