Currently in the midst of a continuing education class, and I can’t help but be utterly fascinated by the complexity of our bodies. There’re countless systems within our bodies tirelessly working in harmony to keep us alive.
Show your body some love today; do something that nourishes and cherishes it.

“My bucket is not full yet. Where are we going next?”

A quick trip to NYC to catch up with clients and reconnect with friends. I might have collected a few dumb pictures along the way, but what mattered most was the quality time spent with amazing people in my life.

I was chatting with my client the other day and she asked me to share my diet. The word “diet” can have a negative connotation for many people (including myself), but its true definition is simply the kinds of food that a person habitually eats.

I definitely have a list of foods I eat all the time. And the list got way more specific after having kids.

The biggest motivator? Finding ways to boost my energy and wave goodbye to constant fatigue as a parent (classic).

First on the list was alcohol 🍷. I realized it makes me feel so sleepy with a not-so-fun headache the next day. I leave it only for big social events.

Simple carbs like pancakes and waffles were next on the chopping block. I simply can’t start my day with it. They made my whole body jittery and short-tempered. My body generally thrives on a higher protein diet.

Next one was focusing on getting nutrients from foods vs supplements (I still love a good supplement 😅). BUT swapping out my daily vitamin C pill for a kiwi a day was so easy. Or instead of taking Omega-3 capsules, I make sure I have fish daily.

The last adjustment made a huge impact on my whole body. I use Seed Probiotic and I focus on getting lots of fiber through out the day. It only works in combination.

It’s been a fun journey! I’ve learnt that whatever worked for me in my 20s not necessarily work for me right now.

So don’t be lazy and go figure out what foods support your body and give you energy today!

Honoring Resilience and Consistency ✨

This week has been a challenge for some of my incredible female clients. Kids falling sick, work pilling up - the chaos of life tried to throw them off the routine. But here’s what inspires me: they showed up for their resistance training sessions, even when it felt tough!

Sure, there might not have been their “best” workouts. We met their bodies where they were that morning, and we reinforced the power of showing up and moving forward, no matter the circumstances.

It reminded me of my own mom when I was growing up. She had her fitness class every Tuesday and Thursday. It didn’t matter if my sister and I had acro competitions or we fell ill, she was unwavering in her commitment to those workouts.

Now, as a mom myself, I have a newfound respect for this kind of dedication.

So, here’s to the resilience of my clients, my mom’s unwavering commitment, and the lessons we carry forward! 💪🏻

Just a few days ago, I witnessed something truly heartwarming. The girls dove into their “school” game and played together for a whole two hours - no calls for “Mom” in sight. It felt like crossing into a new chapter after conquering the intense “two under two” phase. 🌈
Looking back, this was a wild journey for me. But I’m endlessly grateful for my parents (who moved in with us) and Ian who stood by me as I balanced raising two kids and my own business.
Cheers to this small win 🍸

My advice for absolute everything: Movement!
Reflecting back on my postpartum journey, those training sessions became my sanctuary, some space where I could connect to my body and mind. It’s also a good reminder that the body is so so RESILIENT!
To all the moms out there, movement doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s universal and accessible. Lean into your strength, and as I tell my clients “go one rep (step) at a time”.

As a little one, I used to dive into the world of imagination, turning my stuffed animals into star athletes, stretching them until my mom had to work her magic with patches! 😅. I even had a fearless acrobatic gymnastics doll who soared through the air in my imaginary arena.
Fast forward to today, and I’m living my dream as a coach, turning my childhood play into a real-life journey!

If I had to name two underrated muscles of 2022, that would be serratus anterior and TAs.
To all my moms who struggle with neck/mid back pain, pay attention to serratus strength.
To all my moms who have prolapse, “find your lower TAs.
