I completed my morning walk with my fur baby in honor of The Links’ “Walk For Healthy Living” walk-a-thon.
Went to Houston for some “sound healing” from Queen Beyoncé! I had so much fun singing and dancing along for three hours. It was totally worth traveling to see the show in her hometown! Of course I knew the assignment and dressed for Virgo season in my silver tank, sparkling hair, bee earrings and fan. 😀💃🏽👑

My self care weekend included lots of this…
What an eventful week! Sending out thanks to everyone who hugged me, called, texted, posted on social media, sent flowers, shared memories, sent a card, sang a song and prayed for me. Losing a parent is not for the faint of heart. I’m grateful for your love and understanding as I navigate the grieving process. Here is the spectacular sunset I saw on Saturday evening, the day we laid Mom to rest. I love the healing power of nature. God is good! 🙏🏾
Happy Halloween from the Queen Bee and the Honey Nut Cheerios Bee! We just finished a yoga class full of gratitude and heart openers. 🐝🐝
I had a busy weekend. My favorite part by far was my final Saturday immersion class for my 300-hour yoga certification. My cohort conducted the workshop and it was amazing! Although each of us developed our own modules, the complete workshop was an uplifting and healing practice. I have so much gratitude for my teachers, and and my cohort, who are all wonderful teachers! .
Here you see my yellow jacket, to remember the powerful foundation from my 200-hour cohort and gifts (Sun & Moon tote). 🙏🏽🧘🏽♀️💛
Meet Bella. Look for this new student in my virtual yoga classes.
Posted • Meet Bella, the latest addition to the Clark Family. She’s got clothes already and is her stylist. 😂 Bella is up for a snowy walk, car ride or yoga class. So far, she’s my kind of dog. 🐶.
Look what came in the mail yesterday! I’m continually learning new things for my Gentle/Restorative yoga class. 🧘🏽♀️
New books arrived! Here’s what I’ll be reading on these chilly autumn evenings. “A Pair of Wings,” by .hopson and “Black Women’s Yoga History,” by .s.y.evans . I love Black female authors! I look forward to these two. 📚 ❤️
Here’s another Summer 2021 highlight. I completed my Energy & Sound Healing certification! Thanks to my marvelous teachers, Tamisha and Shawn for opening this new world to me. I use what I learned daily. Check them out at if you are interested in their fall workshop and certification program.
Also check out my Monday night 8pm Gentle/Restorative yoga class for a mini-sound bath to get you on the right track with Monday selfcare. 👆🏽Link in bio.
It’s back to school season. Sun & Moon Yoga] shared one of my favorite memories from Summer 2021.

Posted • Sun & Moon Yoga] Sandra’s favorite summertime weekend was attending a traditional Nigerian wedding ceremony with her daughter, sister, and niece. This photo is Sandra’s salute to the wonderful, intelligent, and accomplished women in her family!
The Nigerian lace dresses were made from the same fabric, but each was custom designed for the individual woman wearing it.
Just like the Nigerian lace dresses, Sandra tailors her yoga classes to meet the needs of the individual. Come see how comfortable yoga can feel in Sandra’s restorative yoga class on Mondays at 8:00 p.m. EST on Zoom.

I love lavender oil. I put it on wool dryer balls and add them to the dryer when I dry my clothes.

Posted • CONVERSATION STARTER一Have you ever felt like you needed a break from your yoga practice, or to make a change in how you approach it, but felt guilty or worried that taking those steps would represent failure or giving up?
This may sound surprising coming from a yoga teacher, but it’s absolutely fine to step back from your physical yoga practice, to stop attending group classes, or to switch styles if what you’re doing isn’t serving you.
We’ve been culturally primed to believe that “giving up” or “quitting” is a form of weakness, even when it’s a wise choice. Just look at the ire Simone Biles received for protecting herself and bowing out of competition when she needed to (and trust me, from a former gymnast who had the yips myself, she did the right thing).
But in that cultural context, guarding our boundaries and protecting ourselves is actually one of the bravest, and most difficult things we can do一and, I’d argue, it’s yoga in action.
When we are able to look inward and see what we’re holding onto because of false binaries, what’s causing suffering, and release it, we’re taking a gigantic step forward in our practice.
And by the way, stepping away from a physical practice isn’t quitting yoga.
The thing is, yoga is a highly personal practice that can fit into our lives in different ways during different periods of time and life stages. And if getting onto that mat every day while you’re trying to work two jobs and raise a family feels more like a chore than a release valve, it may not be serving you at this particular point in time.
Whether you scale back your physical practice, can’t dedicate as much time to meditation as you like, or change the way you approach poses, your practice is valid and worthwhile. Yoga will always be there, ready for you to engage however you need.
Have you ever stepped back from your yoga practice or changed it significantly? Did you feel guilty about that choice?
I had a stressful day today. Here’s part of my selfcare plan. Feet in the grass after work. 🦶🏽
❤️ Still learning to access the healer and storyteller within.
We do not become healers.
We came as healers. We are.
Some of us are still catching up to what we are.
We do not become storytellers.
We came as carriers of the stories
we and our ancestors actually lived. We are.
Some of us are still catching up to what we are.
We do not become artists. We came as artists. We are.
Some of us are still catching up to what we are.
We do not become writers, dancers, musicians, helpers, peacemakers. We came as such. We are.
Some of us are still catching up to what we are.
We do not learn to love in this sense. We came as Love. We are Love. Some of us are still catching up to who we truly are.

Shining a light in Black mental health. 🔦

Posted • In today’s newsletter, we discuss how the sudden departures of Simone Biles, Naomi Osaka and even Sha’Carri Richardson to prioritize their mental well-being over international accolades, is both heroic and cause for concern. Their decisions exhibit the need for a much larger conversation: mental health for Black women.

Posted • Saying Yes takes determination
Saying No takes courage
Competing requires focus
Exiting requires bravery
Achievements are wonderful
Acceptance is crucial
Simone has shown us the power of all of these throughout her life. Thank you for allowing us to value each and every one of these choices as important. Putting yourself first before opinions, expectations and obligations takes strength. Let’s honor decision amidst the noise so we can learn to hear our own inner voice more clearly.
On my awe-walk today, I noticed the hot-pink crepe myrtle trees blooming in my neighborhood. Awe-walking is a wonderful selfcare practice recommended by my Ayurvedic yoga teacher, This practice grounded me at diversity and inclusion meetings on Zoom for most of the day.
Look what arrived today! Yup, I am stepping up my sound healing game. Thanks to my teachers, and !🪘

Guess who recommended two wonderful books by African-American female authors for Sun & Moon Yoga] ‘s summer reading list? If I’ve learned nothing else this year, I learned that life is short. I am unapologetic about my non-guilty pleasures. 📚
‘s “In The Heart of Texas” is a smart and funny romance with a touch of politics. I keep re-reading it until Ginger publishes her next novel because I need fun in my life! 😀
I recommended “Restorative Yoga for Ethnic and Race-Based Trauma” by because I am an African-American restorative yoga teacher who wants to stay current. During this past year, I increased my personal restorative yoga practice to heal myself. What used to feel like a guilty pleasure that I would practice once a quarter is now part of my weekly self-care practice. 🧘🏽♀️

Supporting Black farmers. My brother-in-law will be featured in tomorrow’s episode of Breaking Bobby Bones on National Geographic Channel.
Posted • Did you know that 1920, 14% of U.S farmers were black and worked 16 million acres of land? But in 2003, studies showed that less than 1% of U.S farmers were black and worked less than .003% of American farmland. Systemic practices have almost wiped black farmers off the map!
All in all, I am extremely proud of my dad, who is one of the few African American row crop farmers.
Tomorrow, he will be featured on “Breaking Bobby Bones” which airs on National Geographic!
Please take the time to share and watch the episode at 10pm EST on Nat Geographic!
