Last night the team attended another multi agency training exercise in the Castle hill area alongside Wick and Duncansby Coastguard Assynt Mountain Rescue Team Police Scotland Highland & Islands Scottish Ambulance Service and British Red Cross - Scotland Volunteers

The exercise was a great success and a good opportunity for working with other agencies.

Once again our thanks goes to the organisers and volunteers for all the work put in.

At 0205, Wick and Duncansby Coastguard teams were requested to assist Dornoch and Inverness Coastguard Rescue Team as well as RNLI Invergordon Lifeboat, East Sutherland Rescue Association and Rescue 151 in a search around Embo pier for a possible person in the water. After an extensive shoreline search the Coastguard teams were stood down at 0516.

At 1.57 this morning the team were tasked with our 5th callout in the last 10 days.

We were tasked to assist Police Scotland Highland & Islands along with the Scottish Ambulance Service

Thurso Lifeboat were also in attendance.

We were tasked last night with Wick and Duncansby Coastguard and Melvich Coastguard Rescue Team for our third callout in the last 6 days to assist Police Scotland Highland & Islands. RNLI Wick Lifeboat were also in attendance.

At 00:54 on Friday morning Wick, Duncansby, HM Coastguard Scrabster and Melvich teams were called last night to assist Police Scotland with a search in the Lybster area. The first informant reported someone calling for help north of the harbour. After an extensive search of the area with RNLI Wick Lifeboat the search was stood down at 04:55 with the conclusion of a well-intentioned false alarm.

At 1705 on Sunday, Wick, Duncansby, HM Coastguard Scrabster and Melvich Coastguard teams were tasked to assist a walker who had become ill in the Dunnet Head area. After an initial casualty assessment the teams carried the walker out on a stretcher for around a half mile back to the car park to receive further medical care from Scottish Ambulance Service

Last night members of the team along with Wick and Duncansby Coastguard, Melvich Coastguard Rescue Team, Thurso Lifeboat, Thurso fire & rescue service and Scottish Ambulance Service took part in a training exercise at Dwarwick Pier. It was a great chance for us all to practice our casualty care skills and see what each different service had to offer.

-NOTIFICATION OF TRAINING EXERCISE-

On the evening of Thursday 9th May we will be conducting a training exercise in the Dunnet area. Please do not be alarmed by an increased presence of emergency services.

This will have no effect on operational capacity or response and all emergency services will still be available to respond to emergencies as normal.

Yesterday 5 members of HM Coastguard Scrabster alongside Lewis Vines completed the Etape Loch Ness. Despite some mechanical failures we all had a great day.
