The Farmhouse Project
In 2012 we fell in love with and purchased a home built in 1800 by the Woodman family, owners at the time of the local mill. Love,

Weโre two gents from the big city โ a perfectionist designer and a free-spirited doctor โ who decided to slow down, simplify, and unplug by moving into a historic farmhouse in Upstate NY. Itโs Finally Here! ๐
After nearly six months of renovations, weโre thrilled to announce that phase two of our retail shop is ready to launch: the restaurant at Black Walnut in Callicoon, NY.
โ
When I was eleven, I met Camille during figure skating practice. We were inseparable, on and off the ice. Though our paths later diverged, our bond remained strong. From dancing in NYC clubs as teens to sharing lifeโs milestones, Camille was always there. She was the first person I came out to, supported Kris and me at our wedding, and we celebrated her journey to becoming the incredible chef she is today.
โ
When Kris and I bought our farmhouse, Camille fell in love with our little community, visiting often and spending much of her time in the kitchen, cooking up her latest creations. I always had a sneaky plan to get her up here permanently.
โ
Weโre thrilled Camille is joining us at Black Walnut as the executive chef and co-owner of the restaurant. If youโve enjoyed her cooking this summer, you know how special her talent is, and weโre excited for her to share it with our community. Camilleโs passion for working with local farmers and seasonal ingredients shines through in her menus. Personally, Iโm inspired to work with such a strong, kind, and talented female chef in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

Life is so incredibly short. We apologize for not posting much on here lately. Our main focus over the past year has been our retail space in town, which has become the priority of our little brand. Itโs also been refreshing to focus on human interactions rather than digital ones.

Two weeks ago, we had to say goodbye to our beloved pup, Arjuna. It was an unexpected and painful decision, one that came far too soon, leaving us heartbroken. This experience has reminded us of how fleeting and precious our time is, and the importance of cherishing the moments we share with those we love. We are deeply grateful to our friends, family, and neighbors who have reached out to us. Your support means the world to us. We love you, sweet Arjuna. Rest easy little scutch. ๐๐ถ๐

Our Story
Weโre two gents from the big city โ a perfectionist designer and a free-spirited doctor โ who decided to slow down, simplify, and unplug by moving into a historic farmhouse in Upstate New York.
We traded in taxis for pickup trucks and store-bought for handmade, and filled our lives with what brought us the most joy: entertaining, cooking, gardening, learning to live off the land, restoring our farmhouse, and creating cool sustainably-made home goods. On any given day, youโll probably find us feeding our chickens, working on a project in our on-site studio, or whipping up a new cocktail recipe to share with you.
But the best thing might be our pretty incredible community of like-minded folks, both online and off. We really love connecting with our neighbors, supporting local businesses and artisans, and bringing everyone together through events we host throughout the year.
The Farmhouse Project is our cozy corner where we like to share all of the above. So even if you canโt visit this gorgeous area in person, you can still get a taste of upstate living and experience the charm of it all as we create our own happy hybrid of a beautiful life, lived simply.
