Breaks U

Our Story

Breaks U began in 2007 as a platform for collegiate dancers in the Northeast region. Over the years, this event has become a staple of the local breaking scene due to the increasing involvement of student-dancers and school organizations in the community. Hosted by NYU’s very own breaking club, Breaks U also owes its success to the passionate and hardworking individuals who make the event a special experience. Many up-and-coming dancers have made a name for themselves through Breaks U, leaving behind an abundance of unforgettable moments. Speaking of which, the event is commonly the first battle opportunity for many aspiring young b-boys and b-girls.

As we look towards the future, it is our hope that Breaks U continues to be a source of motivation and inspiration for student-dancers. It is also our goal to help members of our community develop into positive contributors in other areas of society. Thank you everyone for the support you have shown thus far; we are eager to do more for this dance that has brought value to so many of our lives!
