Newberg Youth Soccer

A developmental, competitive soccer club that focuses on the needs of our community. Community Organization

02/09/2024

Last night, a piece of our soccer community came together for some fun team building and a highly competitive night of soccer.

Timbers vs. Sounders and the Timbers were victorious!

Our 2011 and 2012 boys got the cool experience of being down on the field to watch the teams warmup; not a better seat in the stadium than that!

Not only was it an epic experience for our players, but also a great opportunity for our team families to get to know each other better.

📢⚽️ Coach Carlos Is In the News ⚽️📢

Excerpt from The Newberg Graphic article (August 24, 2024)

Villarroel was hired after being involved in soccer for decades, including 10 years spent coaching at the recreational and competitive levels. He most recently was the head coach for the U14 girls team of Chehalem Valley Soccer Club (formerly known as Newberg Youth Soccer)...

“Being a head coach is more than just soccer, it's an opportunity to connect and make an impact in the community. High school kids go through so many challenges in life. It's an honor to be a resource and help guide them through their high school career.”

The 2014 Girls Team is a mix of seasoned veterans and newer players, all of whom tackled the challenges they faced at the PCU Rose City Cup tournament earlier this month with incredible attitudes.

As players adapted to the larger field and new tactical situations, the learning curve was steep but short. Tournaments are like an intense classroom, where back-to-back games offer rapid lessons. The improvement from the first game to the last was immense.

Yes, there are always things to work on, but identifying those areas for improvement is what makes these tournaments so valuable. The team can focus on these areas to make them even stronger. That was the biggest win from the weekend.

19/08/2024

Our 2012 girls team participated in the PCU Rose City Classic over the weekend and came out as champions!

From Coach Chris....

This was a young and new team that lost every game in our summer tournaments last year. All the glory of leaving this weekend as Champions goes to these young ladies!

They worked hard.
They trained every week.
They built bonds.
They did it all, and they did it well - very well!

Champions do the right thing even when it's hard.

Our club is experiencing an exciting period of growth. We now have members from all over the Chehalem Valley and beyond, including Carlton, Cornelius, Dayton, Dundee, Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Lafayette, McMinnville, Newberg, Sheridan, Sherwood, St. Paul, and Yamhill.

With this growth comes the opportunity for transformation—a chance to represent and serve our community in new and innovative ways.

Just last night at our Season Kick-off, we revealed our new name and look. However, the move to a new name was not an overnight decision.

A rebranding committee undertook a thoughtful process, engaging with coaches and board members. We conducted a survey of our membership to understand what you value most. This process included many meetings, hours of creative work, and in-depth discussions about the future of our club.

We are thrilled to share this with you and to see where the incredible energy of our club will take us!

We started our Season Kick-off night as Newberg Youth Soccer, and are excited to announce that we will be moving forward into the new season as Chehalem Valley Soccer Club!

We had nearly 300 people show up for tonight's community club gathering and are excited to see where we go from here!

More to come as we move forward...

As we move toward a new season, we have some new coaches joining our teams! We'd like to introduce you to our new 2014 Boys Team Assistant Coach.

⚽COACH RUSTY⚽
If it weren't for coaches in my own younger years, I honestly might not even be here. I certainly wouldn't have considered going to college, much less trying to walk-on for a college sport or become a scholarship-athlete. That said, what drew me to coaching is the life-changing opportunity to pass-along what coaches offered younger-Me:

The chance to be seen, valued, encouraged, empowered to build upon strengths and challenged to aim higher than one's own limited view of what's possible.

We just learned of this fun opportunity for our club to potentially win $1,000! A hunt put on by Oregon Bottle Drop starts tomorrow, July 3 and runs through July 7. This hunt will celebrate Oregon’s iconic Bottle Bill by hiding six commemorative bottles across Oregon’s trails and parks.

Each finder gets to keep the commemorative bottle and direct a $1,000 donation to a BottleDrop Give nonprofit of their choice! This could be Newberg Youth Soccer!

Be sure to follow along each day for clues on where to find them! Visit bottledrop.com/hunt for more details and to receive the clues each morning starting at 8.a.m tomorrow.

Happy hunting and stay cool in the hot days ahead! Sharing is caring, so feel free to let others know about this fun hunting opportunity.
