What a lovely post from a lovely venue - and what smashing photos!
What a night! It was bonkers how many of you travelled via replacement buses, coaches, drive shares with people you had never met etc. The effort you all went to attend was astonishing. Even though we had sold close to a sell out I was convinced the venue was going to be empty- instead it was wonderful. Thanks to everyone who got some merch. I have never ever been so busy! It was bonkers. Sorry if we sold out on something you wanted. And sorry if you tried to talk to me but I couldn’t. It was all too busy, loud and chaotic.
What a gig, what a night, thanks for coming. And, good news, the van showed up this time to pick up the equipment (as Mr Spoons booked it).

BRIXTON, RELEASE DAY AND THE HUNT FOR MAC ARLINGTON
Hello everyone,
Tomorrow at 7pm Jim Bob will thrust onto the stage at Brixton Electric to entertain you for a few glorious hours. Jim will be playing two very unique sets. The first set (accompanied by Chris Thorpe-Tracey on the piano) will contain classics, heartbreakers, and what the kids call ‘deep cuts’. Then he’ll be back on for the main full band punk rock extravaganza. Get there from doors opening at 6pm as Jim Bob is on at 7pm. The second set starts at just after 8pm.
While you’re perusing the venue you can get your own one-off ‘JIM BOB SAY BRIXTON’ shirt with only a 100 of these made. It’s a crackin’ t-shirt and I’ll be there to sell it to you on stall.
if you are on the fence about coming I promise you the gig of the century. What’s not to like? Two sets, loads of Jim Bob and Carter classics and a night not to be forgotten. There are still a couple of hundred tickets left (!) so don’t be shy and come along.
Released today on Cherry Red Records is ‘This is My Mixtape EP.’ It is 10 inches of transparent yellow vinyl that looks and sounds marvellous. There is live fave Geno, there’s also a version of Tubeway Army’s Are ‘Friends’ Electric?, Squeeze’s Labelled With Love, and the Psychedelic Furs song Pretty in Pink. Get a copy from HERE . 750 of these have been made, and there are 80 left from Cherry Red. We also have 50 to sell ourselves for the live dates. We’d love to sell this lovely piece of vinyl out to so if you could buy one of the last 80 that would be terrific.
The EP is worth owning and will help make some of the money back when some do**us booked the splitter van for the wrong day for Shiiine and last weekends gigs. This fool cost us a grand in total with extra van and crew costs, and thus wiped out all the profits. If you know this idiot going by the name Mac Arlington (we think) do let us know. In the meantime if that doesn’t make you buy a ticket or an EP nothing will.
Hope to see you tomorrow at the merch stand,
Marc x
p.s. Please don't post any spare tickets here. There are so many spammers. Go to twickets.
DO RE ME SO FAR SO CHEAP
Hello everyone,
For today, and today only, you can get a tenner off a DO RE ME T-shirt. Released for GLASTONBURY ‘92 it features the ever popular Do Re Me artwork with ‘Have a good time all the time’ on the back. To be totally honest we have over ordered on these. They may be amazing quality and ruddy expensive to make but we are happy to take a hit to shift a few before Christmas. From tomorrow they will be back to the normal price so get one for £15 whilst you can. We put a 150 of these on sale via the mailing list this morning, 45 remain. Medium has now gone.
In other exciting merchandise news we have just 7 calendars left our of 500 of these bad boys, and we have 35 beanies left. Both of these items will sell out before xmas. Boom!

On my way to Brighton to practice some piano songs with Chris. I’m going to play two sets in Brixton next Saturday. Although it seemed like a fun idea when I thought of it, and although it still is a fun idea, it’s quite daunting to have to remember so many songs. And I’ll miss the hour or so of bonding with the band before we go onstage. I’ll have to be extra professional. Start drinking forty minutes earlier, and I’m going to have to squeeze out of my silver lamé suit (first set) and into my gold lamé suit (main set) a bit quicker than usual.
I’m going to spend two days rehearsing with Chris, because we have a lot of songs to try out. We could easily play three sets. We won’t though. I’m not Bruce Springsteen. Besides, there isn’t enough time. There’s a disco load out (industry term) after the show. All over by ten pm. I should be home in time to finish my thousand piece baked beans jigsaw puzzle. Talking of time. If you’re coming on Saturday, get to the Brixton Electric at seven to see what songs me and Chris decided on. There are still some tickets left. Get a couple from see tickets dot com. Or you could even rock up on Saturday and buy them on the door like we used to do in the 90s (‘Sheriff Fatman’!). I would love to see you there. We can all boycott I’m a Celebrity together. I might even wear my ‘Nigel Farage is a p***s face’ badge.

Hello everyone,
This time next week (Saturday 2nd) Jim Bob will be playing his big end of the year show at Brixton Electric. Playing Brixton always feels very special to Mr Bob with so much historical significance. Jim will be playing two, very unique sets. The first set accompanied by Chris Thorpe-Tracey on the piano - with classics, heartbreakers, and what the kids call ‘deep cuts’. Then he’ll be back on for the main full band punk rock set. It’s really not to be missed.
The timings are: Doors open: 6pm. Jim Bob set 1: 7-7:40pm. Jim Bob set 2: 8:10pm Colin Curfew: 10pm
And while you’re there you can get your own one-off ‘JIM BOB SAY BRIXTON’ shirt (image below) with only a 100 made. It’s a crackin’ t-shirt!
I don’t want to Barry Bull you. Ticket sales are very strong - we have sold 1100 out of 1400. I would LOVE to get close to a se** out though (avoiding writing the word because of the bots) and we have about 300 tickets left. So if you are on the fence about coming I promise you the gig of the century or your money back*. Go to See tickets if you want one.
It's also that time when some of you will realise you can't get a sitter, your train has been cancelled or you have a cold. If you do have a spare ticket please don't post it on facebook and use twickets instead. Twickets is safe and secure, facebook isn't and is full of spammers and con artists these days. I would also sell any spares for a reduced price on twickets because as mentioned there are still face value tickets left from official sources.
As Jim mentioned on Monday he put a cover of the Dexys Midnight Runners song, ‘Geno’ in the set last weekend. It was an immediate singalong live hit. I loved it! You can get a recorded version of the song on the ‘This is My Mixtape EP.’ 10 inches of transparent vinyl that looks and sounds marvellous. Apart from Geno, there’s also a version of Tubeway Army’s Are ‘Friends’ Electric?, Squeeze’s Labelled With Love, and the Psychedelic Furs song Pretty in Pink. What’s not to like. Get a copy from Cherry Red, just do a google for the link. We have 750 of these made, and there are 93 left from Cherry Red. We also have 50 to sell ourselves for the live dates. It gets sent out next Friday. We’d love to sell this lovely piece of vinyl out to so if you could buy one of the last 93 that would be terrific.
Have a lovely weekend,
Marc x

There's A Monster In My Garden
(PRE -ORDER FOR XMAS DELIVERY)
About 22 years ago I wrote one of the most popular Abdou songs, people still seem to love it and I'm glad about that, because I do too.
The eagle-eyed amongst you will recognise the monster from the Air Odeon Disco Pub inner sleeve.
This shirt, like all of our shirts is printed on 'earth neutral, climate positive' garments. Shirt colour is moss green which reflects the garden part of the song. It has a front, back and sleeve print.
I think it looks very smart and would be a perfect present for the monster/s in your garden. Sizes are S,M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL*
*please note that the 3XL shirt only comes in black as the
manufacturers don't do that size in moss green. I'm sure it'll look great in black too.

OUCH
If I don’t wake up the morning after a tour feeling like I’ve been kicked down two flights of stairs, I feel like I haven’t done my job properly. After the past three nights I woke up this morning feeling like it may have been four or maybe five staircases. Bruised doesn’t quite cover it. I just fell asleep in the bath. Which is risky, what with the whole namesake Jim Morrison thing in Paris.
Thank you times six if you came to see me at Shiiine, or in Exeter or Brighton. These were easily some of my favourite ever live shows. I absolutely love playing with this band. I don’t want to stop. It’s affirming my life.
We put our cover of the Dexys Midnight Runners song, ‘Geno’ in the set. I didn’t know how it would go down. I hadn’t considered it would be an immediate singalong live hit. You can get a recorded version of the song on the ‘This is My Mixtape EP.’ 10 inches of transparent vinyl that looks and sounds marvellous. If Cherry Red hadn’t given me a fee copy I definitely would have bought one. Apart from Geno, there’s also a version of Tubeway Army’s Are ‘Friends’ Electric?, Squeeze’s Labelled With Love, and the Psychedelic Furs song Pretty in Pink. What’s not to like. Get a copy before they all go from CHERRY RED RECORDS.
In just under two weeks I’ll be at Brixton Electric. Playing Brixton always feels special. So much historical significance. I’m playing two sets. The first set accompanied by the lovely Chris on the piano. We’ll be playing classics, heartbreakers, and what I believe the kids call ‘deep cuts’. Then after a quick rub down with a copy of the Daily Mirror I’ll be back on for the main full band punk rock set. Not to be missed. And while you’re there you can get your own one-off ‘JIM BOB SAY BRIXTON’ shirt.

THE BEAN BEANIE
Hello everyone,
I am delighted to say that by popular request the Carter USM beanies are back. And they are ready for dispatch right away! They are in stock and ready to post.
This time we have them in brilliant black, groovy grey, great green and buzzing burgundy. We have about 20 left of each colour - so not many (the email list had an exclusive window on buying them and snapped most of them up) so it’s first come, first served.
go here to purchase: https://www.carterusmstore.com/shop
The knitted beanies have an embroidered logo on the cuff. They are made from 100% recycled polyester which is made from 100% rPET, the equivalent to approx. 2.5 post-consumer bottles. Good eh?
At the time of writing we have 26 Carter 2024 Calendars left (out of 500). Why not buy the loved one in your life a Calendar/Beanie combo for xmas and make all their dreams come true!
That is it for new items in the Carter store for 2023! We’ll be back in 2024 with some great stuff I am sure. Thank you for all your fab custom - again!

None of these have sold out yet, which is a crime for such a great line-up. If you are even semi-near please consider coming along. Les x
SECOND TIME LUCKY
Just under two weeks until Jim Bob plays Brighton, with support from the brilliant The Popguns.
As you know this was postponed last minute back in July when a fire at a hotel opposite broke out (after the band had soundchecked, and my lovely merch stall had been set up). It was a horrible old day. Anyway Jim and the band are very much looking forward to doing this show. it should be a perfect end to a great weekend with the Shiiine and Exeter shows taking place the two days before.
In other good news this is a nice and early show so we can all be tucked up and in bed at a good time, and there should be plenty of time to get home if travelling from outside Brighton.

JIM BOB SAY BRIXTON
Hello everyone,
In case you have missed the very exciting news on Saturday December 2nd Jim Bob plays a very special big old winter extravaganza at the Brixton Electric. It holds 1500 and only a couple of hundred tickets remain. I think it’s going to be a really special night and we want to make it one of those wonderful Brixton winter evenings.
Jim Bob is going to be supported by Jim Bob! That’s right. Not only will you get a big old set with the band with full on solo and Carter USM bangers, but the opening set will be Jim Bob and Chris Thorpe Tracey on the piano playing a whole range of stuff. It’s going to be very special indeed. Jim has promised both a barrage of hits and a buffet of rarities.
Come and join us, and let’s have a big old early xmas party.
Below is a mock up of a specially designed Brixton shirt we have in production. 100 of these will be available on the night. The front is a lovely illustration of the Electric. Thanks to Mammoth Creative Works for this.
Marc x
p.s. The good news is that the gig has a 10pm curfew which means those needing to get home can, and those wanting to party on can enjoy the many drinking establishments Brixton has to offer.
49/500 of these left!

Thank you to everyone who has ordered the vinyl and the CD/DVD today. We have sold 350/500 of our vinyl allocation already. We are close to selling all 500 of the CD/DVDs. We have upped our allocation to 600 thanks to Chrysalis. We can't go any higher as Jim and Les simply can't sign any more. Their hands would fall off. If you want a non signed one I would nab one from all good record shops. Head to the Carter store for a signed one. Whilst stocks last!
1992 The Love Album Box Set 3CD & DVD, 2LP Expanded Edition
Hello everyone,
We are happy to announce that Chrysalis are due to release a deluxe version of 1992 The Love Album on CD/DVD along with a double LP edition. The release date is January 19th 2024.
You can order here:
https://www.carterusmstore.com/shop
The CD/DVD box set comes with the highly sought-after documentary, “What Do You Think Of The Programme So Far”, and is made available for the first time since its 1992 VHS release. Featuring footage from the Glastonbury Festival, along with a barrage of Carter videos, it also includes a brand new commentary from Jim Bob and Fruitbat.
This boxset release also offers b-sides, extra tracks and remastered live recordings (Glastonbury Festival - in full for the first time, Norwich Sound City) all beautifully presented in a clamshell box with a poster booklet. It will look lovely, and sit next to this years 30 Something box that was so very warmly received. (hopefully PHM and Worry Bomb will follow if you all buy this!).
The full track listing is on the links to buy below.
(A quick point on the DVD - as people are bound to ask - It isn’t 4k or HD, it is a transfer from the VHS. It is a stereo mix though, and looks really good to my eyes.)
Chrysalis have also released a vinyl version too. I realise there has been a few vinyl versions over the years (the original, the box set vinyl and the record store day picture disc). The purpose of this is that we all want the vinyl to be readily available, along with all the Carter albums. They have therefore worked on a gorgeous coloured double vinyl gatefold package that also has the b-sides from the 1992 period. Hopefully the rest will get their vinyl versions soon. It’s about time the Carter back catalogue was back in the record shops. It makes me cross not to see Carter under the ‘C’ section.
I have purchased 500 copies of both the cd/dvd and vinyl Chrysalis for the Carter store. This will mean Jim and Les will benefit from this if you buy from us. We are only offering signed versions. If you want a non signed version (without the wrapping taken off) please do buy elsewhere, this is available from all good record shops. It’s too complex for us to do signed and non signed (as we found out last time). We aren’t charging extra for signing, and are selling at the RRP.
We put this announcement on our mailing list night. We have sold 300+ of the cds and 200+ LPs since then. Both of our allocation may sell out today.
We should also mention that one of the bonus tracks is a version of Skywest and Crooked that has an alternative ending, with a different reading from Ian Dury. I think it’s really rather wonderful. You can listen to it on the streaming services here:
https://carterusm.lnk.to/1992
Phew! I think that’s all.

WHAT'S LEFT JEFF?
Happy Monday you crazy cats,
Just a quick update from the Marcus T. I call it the ‘What’s Left Jeff? Update’ or something like that.
On Friday tickets for the Jim Bob tour went on sale (see the link below and click on it to buy your lovely people). Once again you all did yourself ruddy proud and get loads of tickets for the new shows. It was a brilliant start and we are chuffed. Thank you. None of them are sold out though! Seriously - not one. So come on, treat yourself to a night of brilliant, life affirming fun in six months or so time. ‘What’s left Jeff?’. Jeff: Lots of tickets but we have also sold lots too. Come and join the party!
Keeping on a Jim Bob tip his all EP on that there 10” vinyl is limited to not how many we can sell, but to just 750. As it stands we have sold a mega lot. ‘What’s left Jeff?’’ you all cry. The answer is 231 of these bad boys just remain. One third left! That’s all. When they are gone THEY ARE GONE! Look at me going all Shouty Sidney. Just hit the link in the comments to be transported to the slowest website on the planet to purchase.
As I have been getting very excited about the CARTER USM 2024 calendar is now on sale, and we’ll have delivery of it in a week or so. It’s the absolute di**le dangle. We have made 500 of these bad boys. ‘What’s Left Jeff?’ you say in a worried way thinking your missus hasn’t got you one for the garage. Jeff: Just 121, that is all. If you don’t get one soon xmas is going to be ruddy terrible. Click on the link in the comments to buy.
So there we have it. I’d like to thank Jeff for his help on today’s email. Where would we be without him? The picture is of Jeff looking perturbed with how little there is left. Poor Jeff.

Jim Bob Vinyl Update
Hello there,
We have had loads of you saying via messages and social comments 'hey Marc, you have said the new Jim Bob EP is limited edition. Exactly how many?'. It's a fair old question. it could be limited as to how many we could sell eh? That old marketing trick...
I am happy to announce there will be 750 of these made. That is right. Just 750. Not 700, nor 800. 750. No more. That is it.
As of yesterday we had sold 502 of these bad boys. I make that 248 of them left.
You can pre-order this fine EP, in glorious wee wee yellow, via the Cherry Red website. I won't put the link because that'll mean nobody will ever see this post. It'll be more buried than a buried thing. But head on over to the Cherry Red site and order someone the ultimate present.
Love you.
Bye!!!!
