One of my favorite classroom items was a World Ocean Map which centered the Pacific Ocean like this photo does. This is a great photo to use when introducing Earth as The Water Planet.

You've probably never seen an image of Earth like this one. It is centered on the middle of the Pacific Ocean, which gives us a taste of just how enormous it is.

Honestly, I’d probably give this kid 100% just for creativity…and making me laugh. 😂

This looks like such a fun intro to any unit on Earth’s changing surface or to any study of fossils!

Are you teaching about Earth’s atmosphere? Watch this phenomena video. You can recreate it using a birthday candle and a test tube or graduated cylinder with mL markings to measure the percentage of oxygen in Earth’s atmosphere. When the oxygen is consumed ( and because nitrogen doesn’t burn) the candle goes out. Using the markings (and a little math), you can figure out how much space in the graduated cylinder was taken up by oxygen.
