Yoga 4 Mindful Exploration
I have been a dancer since I was four years young. I first discovered yoga at a young age and immediately loved this new sense of body movement, it was something new and exciting. My journey with yoga truly began about six years ago, I began practicing to increase my strength and flexibility to improve my performance on my competitive dance team. This practice became something so much more, an inward journey of escaping this chaotic world and coming into myself. After years of practicing yoga I ventured to Kovalam, Kerala, India to deepen my practice and understanding the philosophy of what it truly means to be a “yogi”.
I completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in January of 2018. I am sufficent in asana, pranayama, alignment, adjustments and yoga philosophy. My goals aim to inspire people to be the best version of themselves bringing aspects of yoga into their everyday life. Honoring the basic goodness in oneself regardless of any past decisions we still hold against ourselves, recognizing those things, understand why we did them and finally surrendering to the past in order to fully live in this moment. Right here, right now, this is what really matters.
In March of 2018 I completed my Prison Yoga Project training with founder James Fox. Learning how past traumas have affected the connection between mind and body. Yoga as a mindfulness practice is our tool for reengaging prisoners with their bodies to restore the connection between mind, heart and body. We use a yoga practice to develop the whole person, increase sensitivity toward oneself and empathy for others. By putting the men and women back in touch with their bodies, they begin to care more about themselves and understand the harm they have caused.
I specialize in private in home yoga sessions I like to develop a relationship with my students and work one on one in order to fully target the students needs. When a new student is in this private setting of their home they have the ability to focus on themselves rather than compare themselves to others. Fully coming in tune with their own body.
