It was a pleasure to speak at the San Augustine Texas Lions Club yesterday and give a presentation on the history of the boundaries of Texas. Thank you for the warm welcome!

San Augustine Lions Club met 6/20 at noon at the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. After a delicious meal catered by Lion Robert Harris, our distinguished guest speaker was Texas State Senator Robert Nichols: District 3 and his Senior Policy Advisor, Jake Ellis from their Jacksonville and Austin offices. Senator Nichols presented a power point presentation, “History of the Boundaries of Texas”. After many struggles and wars over determining the Texas boundary lines, it was US Senator James Pearce’s 1850 Compromise that finalized the present boundary lines of Texas. Program chairman was Lion Marshall McMillan.
The business meeting was conducted by Lion President Tammy Barbee. She ended her term at this meeting as President and Lion Tanner Franklin will be the 2024-2025 San Augustine Lions Club President. Pictured are Lion President Tammy Barbee, Lion Program Chairman Marshall McMillan, and guest speaker Senator Robert Nichols.
