Do you know what problem you solve? (Or the one you should be solving for your ideal client?)

You don't need to solve every problem your client has.

Just one REALLY big sticking point that is slowing them down.

High paying clients are looking for a specialist who can help them pinpoint how to go faster and do better.

And will pay well for it.

And actually get results from the work you put in (which is probably far less than the clients you get when you're selling everything and the kitchen sink)

It's safer to preach to the choir.

To give general advice that will probably give people some sliver of success.

Make some sales and be on par with the status-quo.

I don't want to be like everyone else.

And I know there are a lot of you in my audience that don't want to either.

(Because you DM me and we have amazing conversations)

DISRUPTORS.

That's who I am speaking to.

• The people who are sick and tired of seeing and hearing the same BS that's shoved down everyone's throats.

• The people who know their s**t and are ready for everyone else to know it too.

• The people who want to be on the frontlines of battling misinformation, bad service providers, and low standards.

Look, I want everyone to succeed. I want everyone to feel confident in their offers.

But I require that you stand confident in your expertise and your experience.
And show up.
Share your insights.

And not everyone is going to do that.

I'm here for the people who are ready to OWN their lane and want someone there to help them navigate all the twists and turns that come with deciding to take up some serious space.

The world needs you.

Take that time and effort to figure out how you can

1 - differentiate
2 - disrupt

Doing what everyone else is doing will just add to the sea of noise and you'll get lost in the river of mediocrity with everyone else.

Disruptive, differentiated messaging will increase your referrals without you being dependent on them.

I closed a $40k consulting deal from a referral....
..I only got that referral because someone followed me for YEARS and saw my consistency and watched me grow and evolve my own business.

I love referrals - I do not love being dependent on them.

No matter what people will say, EVEN WITH a great strategy and network, you are still dependent on other people selling you.

It's almost never your offer that is the problem.

Over 15 years helping service providers, consultants, and coaches has taught me that it's almost always how you're talking about your offer.

This usually because
1) you don't know the actual outcome you provide
2) you are trying to solve too many problems with one offer
3) you don't know who the best fit person is for your offer so of course it's hard to know what to say to activate people to reach out and buy

This time of year used to trigger the living daylights out of me.

- Husband’s Birthday
- 4 Christmas gatherings
- 4 parent birthdays (bio parents + bonus parents)
- 2 child birthdays
- Vehicle Tax and Tags due

Every year, I was in a panic.

"How am I going to afford this?"

"Guess this is ANOTHER year I can't participate in the gift exchange."

No matter how much I budgeted and set money aside throughout the year, this 2-month stretch was always the hardest.

The realization that I couldn’t budget my way out of poverty/lower income hit me.

There's only so much scrimping and saving you can do before you HAVE to figure out how to bring in more income.

Some years I:
- Went through the house and sold stuff we no longer needed
- Had a part-time job to bring in some extra cash
- Did "no gift" years except for getting my (1 kid at the time) something

I was tired of this being my reality every year.

It was time to figure it out or get out.

I decided I was done with the feast-and-famine cycle, never knowing when or how to get clients, and being reactive in my business.

My marketing does the heavy lifting and brings me clients, pre-sold and ready to get started which means my income is more predictable.

Sales are consistent without the panic posting, checking my social media every 2 seconds, or spending hours creating content.

How did I turn it around? I got help.

I didn't always have the money sitting there waiting or knew how I'd make it work.

All I knew was that I needed help figuring out where I had gaps and someone to show me what to do about them.

I needed someone else who's gone through what I have to help me do those things.

So I took the “risk” and invested in ME.

I didn’t make other people responsible for my success.

I now ENJOY this season with my family.

I can't get back the years when my first son was a toddler and I was glued to my computer trying to make money.

I will always feel guilty about that, but never about the money I invested to uplevel my business and myself.

I was playing below my license.

• In ‘99, I started designing and managing websites at the age of 12
• In 3 years, I  had graduated with a BA in design and communication
• In 2 separate jobs, I was the ENTIRE marketing department
• I was acting-creative director for a hospital - managing budgets, creating strategies and plans, AND implementation

…and in my business, I was taking design orders like I was still working at Dairy Queen.

- Letting clients pick and choose what work we did, a la carte style.
- Accepting one-off design projects 
- Allowing clients to tell ME what to do and how to do it

Where was the person who got that BA in 3 years and managed entire departments? And solved BIG problems?

She certainly wasn’t running my design business.

Barely making $5k/mo, I realized that I wasn’t doing the work I was more than capable of doing.

I wasn’t solving the bigger problems I knew I could.

• Clients were fired
• Rates were raised
• Messaging and positioning were overhauled

Instead of selling logos for $100, I created a solution and my first “new” offer sold for $1500.

And then $5k.
..$9k.
..$15k.

👀 and then it hit me again.

I was ready to solve even bigger problems.

So, I ditched design altogether and focused on only strategy and consulting.

And I've sold high 5-figure solutions.

And you can too.

You can EASILY sell a premium offer that solves a bigger problem.

And maybe you're already trying to...

The only way to sell these premium offers to premium clients is to have premium messaging.

I had to learn how to communicate what I did and clearly articulate the outcome my offers provided.

I had $0 months when I stopped doing design work and was trying to get my messaging figured out.

The minute I found that clarity and communicated it - I started seeing consistent inquiries and sales come in.

Messaging isn't a nice to have.

It's a MUST have if you're trying to sell a premium offer.

Get that right, and you'll have the foundation for a predictable and consistent system for sales in your business.

The details of your offer don't matter.

(or not as much as you think they do anyway)

The reason you're not getting as many consistent leads from your content isn't because your offer isn't good enough or because you're not putting enough "stuff" into it.

It's your positioning of the offer that is making it harder to sell.

If you're constantly talking about the deliverables, how many coaching calls you get, and here's how long the program is, blah blah blah.

No one cares. They aren't buying that.

They're buying the transformation. The outcome. The carrot that you're dangling (or should be).

In fact, if you talk about the details of your offer when you're "pitching" in your content, you are turning people off.

Especially those willing to pay premium rates.

Because they don't care. They want what will get them to their goal fastest, easiest, and most painless.

In order to sell a premium offer to high-caliber clients, you need to be talking about:
- their friction points in relation to what you're selling
- their goals/desires and positioning your offer as a unique solution
- the transformation and outcome you provide (don't confuse their goals with the outcome they're looking for)

Without these, you become a commodity and you WILL compete on price to win the business of tire-kickers and hagglers.

I never have to talk about the details of my service until I'm having a sales conversation.
- How I closed a $40k consulting package
- How I PRE-SOLD an offer and made a sale within the first hour, with no sales page or doc with the details
- how my clients have added $5-$10k/mo to their revenue without changing anything other than their messaging within their content

You can make consistent, effortless sales if you know how to speak to your target audience
- what friction points they're coming up against
- what the goals and outcome they are wanting
- how to position your offer as a unique solution

"After posting hundreds of pieces of content, I STILL don't know how it'll do or how my audience will respond".

The BEST way to stagnate growth in your service-based business 👇

- Refuse to learn how to read + use data in your business to make empowered and informed decisions (kicking emotion-based decisions to the curb).

If you've shown up consistently + posted hundreds of times and you still don't know what you need to say to get more consistent sales from your content - you have a messaging issue.

And I guarantee you that you have enough data to get premium clients raising their hand to work with you faster and more consistently if you made a few key shifts in your messaging.

But you have to use your data to figure out what that is.

You can't grow and scale a business when you're guessing and throwing spaghetti at the wall.

If I go to your profile and the last 6 posts are of your dog, a random link to your blog, a meme, a picture of your food, and an inspirational quote - I have no idea what you do or what you're an expert in.

I have no reason to stay on your profile and learn more or buy.

I'm certainly not digging through weeks of content to find your one thought-piece.

If you want to go from 10k months to 25k, 50k+ months, you need to learn how to use your data to master your messaging and sales

You can't run a multi-6 or 7-figure business without knowing how.

Being able to talk about your business cross-channel and cross-collateral means you can have success ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, & ANYWAY.

I don't teach you to hack algorithms or do well on IG, LinkedIn, etc

I give you the tools and foundation to have success wherever you go.

👉 If you want to run ads - great, you have the foundation to do that.

👉 Want to attract clients organically through content? Great! You know exactly what you need to say to pique the interest of your ideal clients.

👉 Want to close sales in the DM's and do cold outreach? Great -you know who you're targeting, what problem you solve, and can clearly articulate that succinctly.

Your brand is SO MUCH MORE than just what you put up on LinkedIn.

Getting high-quality clients from your content CAN be quick -

- A new client who's ready to buy only hours after connecting with you
- Leads who check all the boxes and are ready and excited to do the work
- Invited to speak on other people's stages

It doesn't have to take months to nurture your audience to get sales.

It doesn't have to feel like your convincing anyone to work with you.

It doesn't have to be a 20-step process.

👉 It can be easy.

The secret is you have to master your messaging. The skill of effectively communicating directly impacts how well you can grow an aligned audience and make sales.

You can get sales by chance and fumble around enough to get people trickling in.

But it won't feel easy or effortless.

It won't be predictable.

It won't allow you to be in control of your business growth or income.

Mastering how to articulate the value of your services to the right people will put you in control.

It will allow you to build a business that supports the life you want, charge the prices you want to charge, and book out with premium, high-ticket clients who not only pay but are ready to do the work.

Your messaging can do this for you.

You just have decide that it's possible and that it doesn't have to take a ton of time or steps to attract more of your perfect-fit clients.

You can pretend you don't have competitors all day long, but it doesn't change the fact that there are alternatives to working with you.

The #1 problem service providers face is market differentiation.

They simply don't stand out.

❌ This means they compete on price.
❌ This means they sound like everyone else.
❌ This means their prospects can't tell the difference between them and the next guy/gal.

They've become a "me-too" instead of the "go-to".

And you're too good to blend in as a "me too".

The amount of sales you make and money you bring in directly correlates with the value articulated.

Stop focusing on "going viral".

Go carve out your piece of the mountain instead of trying to "find" a niche.

Refine your messaging to communicate the value of your services and what outcome you get for people.

My biggest insight from DM's with 20+ consultants over the last 2 weeks:

Many of you are not referable. 👇

What you do and who you work with aren't clear enough for me to easily refer you.

1) You work with 15+ industries solving every problem for every person.

Working with "all stages, all sizes, all industries" tells me you're not specialized and if I'm going to plop 5-figures on getting help, I want specialized.

"I work with high-achieving.."
"I work with ambitious..."
"I work with high-performing"

Sorry, but no one is out here saying "I'm not ambitious and really lazy".

If you're in business, I'm 99% sure you'd identify as high-achieving, ambitious, and high-performing.

If everyone in a room will raise their hand, it's not a qualifier.

2) The MOST important part - the actual outcome you provide - is so vague that I don't know what it means.

"I help you with decisions"
"I help you with my unique offer"
"I help you make more money"

Great, you and 1 million other people.

These 2 things are making it harder for me (and others) to refer you and I would bet MONEY that's why your marketing isn't bringing you consistent and predictable leads effortlessly.

I would bet that it feels harder than it should to get people to raise their hand to work with you.

This is why your content feels like spaghetti on the wall.

This is why your audience sees you as "an expert" but not "THE expert I will pay to solve my problem".

Your brand isn't scalable.

It takes too much back and forth for people to "get" what you're about.

A scalable brand means you're publicly recognized for your expertise.

- Ideal clients reach out to you
- Invited to speak on other people's stages
- Tagged & referred by people you don't even know

It doesn't take you a BNI meeting and 3 different coffee chats for someone to "get you".

It's EASY for people to know what you do.

• Easy to talk about
• Easy to refer
• Easy to stand out

t's not enough to just be "different" so you stand out.

It has to be sustainable.

How you differentiate yourself needs to ensure that you'll continue to be profitable.

When you are thinking of how you can differentiate your business, make sure you're considering not only how you can become the the "go to" person in your industry but how you can also remain that "go to" person.

This is what will keep you in business 5, 10, 15 years from now.

Think bigger.

Think long-term.

Think beyond your service or offer.

Hard pill to swallow: If you keep “waiting for the right time” to work on your brand, you’ll end up paying more later.

❌ I just want to get my ducks in a row
❌ I need to get a few more clients before I’m ready
❌ It’s not a priority for me right now
❌ It’ll take up way too much time
❌I’ll just do a worksheet and DIY it

If I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard these….I’d already be a millionaire.

➕Some business owners are proactive and strategic in building their businesses. They know that they’ll need a better plan to get them past 6-figures. Yes, it’s a heftier investment and it’s time-consuming upfront, but it costs to do things right.

➖Some business owners continue to take the DIY approach. Yes, the cost of DIY is attractive in the moment but the outcome - time, money, energy - is a lot more expensive.

If you want to avoid the latter, leave the DIY stuff behind.

I get it - It’s a big investment and you want to make sure you’re ready and can really put all of your attention towards it.

The problem is that your brand ends up feeling meal-pieced together.

You end up working backward and it does more harm than good.

But, I got you.

Try to shift your mindset:
👉Working on your messaging and positioning now means you will be able to attract better clients, raise your rates, and grow your business.
👍 Never feel like you just wasted time on a sales call
👍 Not feeling like you’re leaving money on the table
👍 Not doing work you feel “meh” about with clients that don’t light you up

The right time to work on your brand and begin standing out is now. Every moment you hold off, you’re leaving money on the table.

Every minute you continue to be the best-kept secret, the longer it takes for you to step into the next phase of your business.

That means you can learn to dial in your messaging and elevate your brand.

You do need to own your role as a business owner though and make decisions that are the best for your business so you can focus on living out the purpose of your business instead of being stuck in day-to-day worries.

Three big issues my clients face are:
1. Inconsistent Messaging

Of course it's hard to develop a lead generation and sales strategy when you aren't effectively articulating your value with messaging that resonates with your audience.

Your tagline is another extension of your brand foundation (your purpose, vision, mission, and values).

If you don’t have clarity on these, you can’t accurately communicate your brand.

A study found that the most recalled taglines/slogans were not the most liked. A bad tagline can be recalled easily if enough marketing dollars are put into it.

The good news is that you don't have to compete with behomeths that can spend milions of dollars on brand awareness.

Of all the things we think make a good tagline, only three things actually influenced likability:
• Clarity of message
• Creativity of phrasing
• Inclusion of a benefit

It doesn’t matter how big or small you are. If you can communicate clarity, creativity, and a benefit, you can connect with your target audience.
