Saturdays at 8am MST (starting Nov 9th): Gentle Yoga with Breathwork and Guided Meditation with Rachel
Join Rachel for one hour, every Saturday 8am online, from the comfort of your own space. Start your weekend right by finding and tuning into your breath, generating heat in your body with gentle movements and yoga poses, and centering your mind’s space as you are guided through a meditation towards the end of class. For years these techniques have helped Rachel become more mindful and more in touch with her own body, and she can’t wait to share how the synergy of breath, movement, and meditation can also help you in the most magical ways! Wednesdays at 6pm MST (ongoing): Yin Restore Yoga with Roberta
Yin Yoga poses are practiced slowly and held longer (3-5 minutes) than in regular Vinyasa/Hatha classes to therapeutically stress fascia and other connective tissues and joints. This practice is a great complement to more dynamic muscle-based exercise routines and offers benefits of improving physical flexibility / mobility, calming and balancing the nervous system and stimulating chi energy flow in the body. While not “easy” for those with stiffer joints and muscles, Roberta has been practicing and teaching Yin since 2014 and is adept at helping students adapt poses to meet their needs. In Yin Yoga we focus on how a pose feels and NOT how a pose looks. Sign up for the Oct 30th class here: https://momence.com/s/105581814
Saturday, November 23rd at 11am MST: Moving Meditation and Finding Breath Workshop with Rachel
No experience is necessary for this workshop, this will be 75 minutes of tuning into breath (using the Wim Hoff technique) and finding ways to move mindfully- developing your own moving meditation practice. A seated, guided meditation will also be included. Be prepared to turn inward Into your thoughts, let go of any expectations and allow me to guide you through the process of becoming more mindful. The movement portion will be extremely gentle and fun, designed for you to find your own flow and feel your body’s energy. I’m so thrilled to share this experience with you and help guide you through a journey that’s all your own- whatever comes up is always ok and you can take/leave whatever you want with you after the workshop. This class will be taught every Monday morning at 6am by Ruth Vega. Here is her bio:
Ruth’s love of yoga began in 2007 when she was living in Seattle and decided to join her roommate for a class at a local studio. She found yoga challenging, empowering and healing right away and has continued to practice ever since. Over the years, yoga has helped her manage anxiety, heal from traumatic experiences, and learn how to stay present and come back to her breath during periods of stress. She’s continually amazed at how the practice challenges and supports her and offers new ways to deepen.
Ruth has a background in nursing and currently works as a writer and editor. She completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training in the spring of 2024 and is registered with the Yoga Alliance. She loves helping others reach greater self-awareness and embodiment through movement. She teaches slow-to-moderate paced vinyasa flow and hatha yoga.

Breathwork event this Saturday:
Throughout history, cultures worldwide have provided a means for people to access non-ordinary realms for healing and spiritual growth. Breathwork is a means of inducing an altered state of consciousness through full and connected breathing. An energy charge is created in the body, and as the energy disperses, it serves to release, or to cleanse blockages, both physical and emotional. Possible experiences include; resolution and release of current problems, unresolved childhood wounds, birth memories, past life remembrances and stored trauma in the body. Many also experience encounters with the divine, transcendence of time or space, direct experiences of the primordial vibration, deep peace, unconditional love and or****ic states.

It's been a while since I've posted about my yoga YouTube channel! Here is my latest full class recording. In this class, we move through a sequence that is just a little bit different than our normal. This invites us to move outside of our box and challenge our patterns.
I'm planning on expanding this channel to include more topics. Let me know what you're interested in seeing in the future (such as shorter classes, special topics for movement or philosophy, etc)

To my many students,
Yoga Art Space has been proud to be serving the Albuquerque community since 2016 and we look forwarding to continuing to serve in broader, albeit different ways!
The AUM mantra frequently chanted at the beginning or ending of yoga classes symbolizes the cycle of life. The A represents birth/the beginning/creation. The U represents the vital/the living/the sustaining, The M represents the ending/completion/destruction. I feel like I'm living a quickened version of the AUM cycle in my own life right now. A- I'm pregnant and preparing for welcoming a new life in a beautiful way. U- I'm sustaining a great early childhood for the wonderful kiddo I have. M- I have things that are asking to be released from my life right now.
As I transition closer to labor and the postnatal time with a newborn, I find myself in a place where I'm really wanting to honor the postpartum period in a way I didn't last time. To me at this time, part of that means releasing the running and managing of a physical studio that requires my constant attention to clean, manage changing teacher schedules and student expectations, marketing, accounting, etc all on top of my working another full time job to support my family and trying to be the best mom possible. Thinking of going into the newborn phase again with all that responsibility and likely needing to return to presence at the studio in a month or two instead of giving myself 6-12 months or however long we need before teaching again just sounds like more on my plate than I'm fully able to give energy to right now.
As I considered wrapping up my responsibility, my biggest goal was to find a win-win-win for myself, the teachers, the students, and the studio. I believe I've found that. We've had a ballroom dance teacher at the studio, Joseph Chavez, who had been renting the studio space in the off hours of the studio for at least 5 or 6 years. He's grown to love the space as much as we have over the years. Starting Sep 1st, the plan is for him to take over the studio lease. This is a win for the studio because it will continue to be open (under a new name) under the huge passion and enthusiasm of someone who has the time and energy to put into it to help it grow. It is a win for teachers because they can keep teaching at the studio and even grow more classes if desired. It is a win for students because they will have access to an expanded schedule. Joseph's vision is to have an active public and private teaching schedule from 6am-9pm daily. This will give students access to a variety of dance classes in addition to yoga that the studio offered previously. Joseph wants it to feel like myself, the teachers, and the students are welcome and at home still.
We also intend to maintain Yoga Art Space's virtual presence. We, the teachers, are currently discussing exactly what that schedule may look like. It will likely include some or all of the following:
Weekly virtual classes over Zoom
Monthly virtual classes/workshops over Zoom
Pre-recorded special courses or trainings that can be purchased online
Continued growth of the Yoga Art Space YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/)
Possible creation of a podcast and/or blog efforts, and more!
Likewise, I see hosting retreats as a definite possibility in the future, among other beautiful possibilities. In person events will likewise be inevitable to gather together as a community in the future!
Whitney is also a birth doula in addition to being in the middle of a birthkeeper/midwifery training. This is intended to give women who wish for autonomous birth at home access to a knowledgeable, wise woman who will support the physiology of birth and the choices of the mother. This "Birth, Breath, and Beyond" portion of Yoga Art Space will continue to grow over the next several years!
Please read the FAQs page of the website to learn more https://www.yogaartspace.com/studio-updates)! If you wish for doula/birthkeeper support or if you are particularly interested in some of the aforementioned aspects of the studio, please contact us via the "Contact Us" portion of the website! We want to hear how we can best serve you continuing in the future!
With Love,
Whitney
We still have space in our Restorative Aerial Yoga Workshop (Pre-Registration Required) tomorrow at Yoga Art Space!

Our Story
Our mission is to build a healthy, creative, and compassionate community. We understand the healing, empowering, and transformative powers of yoga, meditation, martial arts, and the creative arts. Our space includes four main areas of focus, which symbolically correlate with the four areas found in our studio. In the studio room, we strive to teach in a way that helps students strengthen the mind-body-spirit connection. In the front area, we encourage creativity, learning, and passion with activities such as our monthly paint nights and weekly book clubs. In the upstairs room, we encourage healing and growth as students can experience private massages with our partner, Sanctuary Natural Therapeutics. The cafe area is what unites everything so that we can come together in a strong community. As these values begin to cross the boundaries of the walls and integrate, we succeed in our mission of building our students and our community. As we shine our light brightly, we invite others to likewise shine more brilliantly.
