We at For Beginners are saddened to learn of Ron David’s passing on May 13 of this year. Ron was a For Beginners author (Arabs & Israel For Beginners, Toni Morrison For Beginners and Opera For Beginners) and was an integral part of the origins of the For Beginners series. Ron was Editor-in-Chief when the line was running under the original publishing house, Writers & Readers. During that time he commissioned and edited over forty Beginners books, including books on Chomsky, Sartre, Shakespeare, The Black Holocaust, The Jewish Holocaust, Derrida, Fanon, Domestic Violence, Jung, and a few dozen others. Ron was a trusted advisor when the series was relaunched in 2007 under the For Beginners brand. He was a force of nature both in personality and with the written word and will be truly missed. Ron is survived by his wife Susan David, and his two daughters Veronica and Whitney.
