Many of you are likely familiar with Animals Connect Everyone, a passion project that has been underway since February 2021, driven by both myself and Jean Marie Swenton-Caples. The project's goal is to underscore the deep connection that exists between animals and humans, aiming to inspire and contribute to overall well-being.
Exciting news to share: we've recently joined forces with the University of Lincoln in the UK to support their research on dogs and well-being. I want to extend my gratitude to the authors of the associated article, with special mention to Anna Marie Barcellos, a Postdoctoral Researcher, who collaborated closely with me to convey the significance of participant engagement in the study to dog owners. I also want to acknowledge other key contributors, including Prof Daniel Mills, Dr Niko Kargas, Dr Phil Assheton, Dr Sophie S Hall, and Prof John Maltby.
A heartfelt thanks goes to Nestlé for sponsoring this research initiative. I want to express my appreciation to everyone who took part in this 4-week project, especially those who have been connected with Animals Connect Everyone. Your participation has been invaluable.

Dog owner mental health is associated with dog behavioural problems, dog care and dog-facilitated social interaction: a prospective cohort study - Scientific Reports Despite numerous qualitative and cross-sectional studies investigating how dog-related factors may impact owners’ well-being, empirical studies to test these causal effects are lacking. This prospective cohort study examined the correlation and potential causal effect of 17 dog-related factors wit...

I'll never forget the first day I met you -
We had adopted a budgie earlier and came looking for a friend for him - we looked at other budgies, conures, and finally looked at lineolated parakeets - there were other ones we were looking at - blue ones, green ones, yellow ones - but we caught you at the corner of our eyes crawling out of the cage and when we asked about you they mentioned you weren't warmed up and ready for people yet -
Despite that, you flew right to me - you landed on the counter, and crawled onto my shirt and up to my shoulder..
You stayed next to me and gave me little kisses with your beak.
Before we could adopt you we had to revisit you another time, and as soon as we returned the week after you flew again right to me and it's as if we hardly ever left ~
I never knew I could be so in love with a little parrot - the coziness of your company, the sound of your chirps, the way you'd crawl around to explore places, your electric kisses, all of that I miss so much -
I wish I could've spent more time with you when you were alive - but circumstances prevented that. I'd always visit you when I could, and when she moved you further away at least I knew you were taken care off - although you passed young I hope you had a happy life
That year you were with me was the last time I felt like I had a home -
"The colors of your wings are as beautiful as the colors of your personality, the colors you shine brought color to my life"
I'll do my best to honor your memory through art
