The world is such a fascinating place and what a wonder it is to be here on earth to experience and express ourselves as humans. I draw inspiration from my own multicultural heritage and cherish all the experiences I have had travelling, learning and appreciating the beauty and diversity of human expression and the unity of being alive in order to do so. Cultural heritage is the collective story of humanity that belongs to us all. Everywhere and nowhere in particular.

All we ever have is Now. The gap between two thoughts. In which future projection and past regret have no say. Where everything occurs. Stillness in flux.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I hope you are all keeping well, creatively improvising and living hopefully through all new scenarios and situations that life can bring! I would like to share my new website with you! (Link in Bio)
A place to organize and share artwork and hopefully help me to navigate between the solitudinal introversion of the creative process in the mind heart and studio and the social extroversion of the showing process! Well, both need courage. I do find art making, like living hopefully courageous as you move into the unknown. Every time you pick up a pen, a paintbrush, a chisel, you go there. I do love the word COURAGE. Its root is COR, the Latin word for HEART. Courage originally meant

"To speak one's mind by telling all one's heart."

Well there is a heartfelt intention for 2022. Happy New Year and Courage to know, speak and live your truth!

My IN CAN TATION for 2022 has to be

"COURAGE, COURAGE, COR!"❤

What is your gift of an inspiring word, invocation, incantation, or quiet reassuring word to yourself for 2022? Please do share!

I have always loved dance and the feeling of aliveness that comes with this form of creative expression. As a young girl I remember dancing Bharatanatyam in Kenya under strict tutelage and ballet, at an English school in Surrey, where the girls were intrigued by the colour of my skin and where on earth did I come from! Ballet was far flung from the scare of the failed Kenya Coup D’etat that triggered our hasty departure, given the predicament of our Ugandan neighbours. I also remember the bliss of dancing as though nobody was watching, on the roof top terrace of our house on the hill, underneath the stars and never mind the rain. Sometime ago I discovered Tango in India and I was intrigued.

I had an opportunity to observe and experience through a little participation. The beauty and elegant dynamics of movement and gesture through space and the feelings and emotions generated, inspired me to do a series of paintings. I also found my preconceptions about this dance to have been quite untrue as I discovered it to be surprisingly meditative! I was reminded how creative expression outwards was also a way within, and I found it a wonder that somebody could lead you back into that vast spaciousness❤
