Those of you in for exams at the end of April (not confirmed but been told it's the date we're working towards) I'm going to hopefully be starting back earlier on the face to face sessions, especially if things are all on track and it's safe to do so. This will be from the 29th March. Please note this is just for exam students only which gives them a few extra weeks with me face to face - how blessed you are! Everyone else will still be the 12th April.

Hi everyone, I'm going to be working towards the 12th April for face to face lessons to restart. If I can do this earlier I will do but I think the sensible option for now is to see how things go with kids going back to school as school children make up most of my students! Gives chance for more vaccines to be rolled out too ❤️

Hi everyone, just completed my last full week before Christmas! 3 more days to go next week and then Santa can visit! 🎅🎄

January - Lessons will be back face to face as long as you're happy to do so and if we don't go in to another lockdown! 🤞 Same applies, don't touch anything other than the stool and piano, I'll open doors for you. Masks must be worn and hands washed on arrival before you enter the music room. I will have dettol'd and cleaned everything that needs to be cleaned before your lesson. Any signs of Covid symptoms you must inform me immediately, I think we've all got this routine sorted though now haven't we!? Bring on 2021. I'm going to work towards starting back face to face lessons from MONDAY 20th JULY. This is the first week of the 6 week holidays. It also gives me a couple weeks to see if numbers are affected in regards to other things opening. I like to be cautious. I'm going to speak to my students in lessons as the week goes on about who feels comfortable starting back and who doesn't. No pressure, it's entirely your choice. We might have to go back to the times you originally had before lockdown just so I can fit all students back in as some didn't want to do the video sessions. I'll need to do some rejigging so bare with me.

▪️ Please wash your hands or use hand sanitizer BEFORE your journey to your lesson.
▪️ One to one tuition (where possible).
▪️I will wave you in when the student before you has left and I've had time to wipe things down. If you keep an eye out for the student leaving as well this will make things easier. Please keep to the social distancing guidelines.
▪️Please remove your shoes and wash your hands before entering the music room.
▪️I will be sitting further away so that I can still see your hands but safely keep my distance.
▪️The piano and door handles will be wiped down with antibacterial spray before and after each student.
▪️Payments will be via online banking. I will still accept cash but preferred option is online.
▪️Ideally, the only things you should be touching are the front door and the piano. If you need the loo there will be antibacterial wipes for you to wipe anything down you've touched.

Just a little update... I'm wanting to get back to normal as soon as I can but let's see how June goes first in regards to numbers, if there's a spike we will have to wait a tad longer as safety is key. I'm hoping to start face to face in July. This could quite easily change yet but this is where my head is at currently. Even if I'm happy to open my doors you can still decide if you want to stick with video sessions and you can tell me when you want to resume face to face. Just because I have said I'm ready (if I'm ready) doesn't mean you have to agree. This is the beauty of what we have been doing over the past few months, we can take our time and go at our own pace to feel comfortable! I really can't wait to see you all properly though ❤️😊

Just an update. I'm not prepared to start face to face lessons just yet as restrictions are still in place. The video sessions have been going great and a huge thank you to the students who have supported me in this, it's worked so much better than I thought it would and I'm seeing lots of progress so thank you for continuing to work hard!

I'm going to contact those of you who I haven't seen for a while over the next week to just have a chat about what you've been working on and if you'd want to reconsider the video sessions. If you don't feel comfortable, that's fine and I will always respect your decision but maybe just a 5 or 10 minute phone call would be much appreciated. I'm just wary of the time you've had off and I never had this long off on maternity so just want to make sure you're still on track with things!!! It would be great to catch up regardless.

Let's just see what the next few weeks bring but hopefully if lockdown restrictions ease, this is how I will proceed with the face to face lessons when it is safer to do so.

Today I have had 3 video calls for lessons, thank you to my students for being my little guinea pigs 😂! It has been a complete success and I LOVE it. I'm happy to now change to this way of teaching for the foreseeable future. Hopefully it won't be for a long time but doing it this way ensures I can still keep an income and you a hobby for these dark days! I have been using WhatsApp and its done the job nicely. I'm going to create some WhatsApp groups so that I have all students on each day in one big group. You don't have to speak to everyone in the group and I won't be bombarding you with lots of messages. It's more for me to just post any updates that I need to make you aware of. I'll slowly do those over the evening.

Thank you all so much for the support, we're working as a team and I appreciate it all so much. Its been nice to cry happy tears tonight because I have a solid plan!

I am still continuing to teach. Everything is cleaned thoroughly in my home so you can be reassured the best you can. I'm doing my bit. I just hope you're doing yours before you come to your lesson. Please wash your hands before you leave home and I will ask you to wash your hands as soon as you enter my home. We can get through this. I just hope you understand that I have to carry on! I don't really have a choice in the matter! The joys of self employment. In good news, I am happy to teach over Skype if I need to so there are plenty of ways we can get round things. Might be a bit of a faff for a while but as long as I can hear the pieces you're working on and guide you along this shouldn't be an issue.

Hi Students,

As you can all appreciate, lessons take place in my home and there is quite a lot of people coming in on a weekly basis, it is also a very 'hands on' job! For your reassurance and mine, I will now be asking you all to please wash your hands first before sitting at the piano. I have plenty of handwash (for now🤦‍♀️) I'm also cleaning my keys after EVERY student with anti-bacterial spray so if we can all do our little bit to protect ourselves and those around us that would be great. I've got everyone in my household to think about and the grandparents who are babysitting whilst I'm teaching. So, if you do your bit and I do mine we know we're doing the best that we can to prevent the spread of Coronavirus🤞Also, if you think you may be starting with any of the symptoms, please let me know in good time and just self isolate like we've been told to do. I just want to keep things running as smoothly as I can business wise. I will inform you if this is the case with anyone in my household too!!

So, this practical exam session is done and dusted! A big well done to Amilee on passing grade 1 with Distinction! A whopping 96%! Amazing. And to the other end of the grades a huge well done to Lydia who has passed her Grade 8 piano! (and her driving test first time the day after💪) the girl's got power! One proud teacher ❤️
