This is P-38 number 44‑23296 named "YIPPEE", a special aircraft that marked the 5,000th P-38 produced. The aircraft was painted bright red and marked with the name YIPPEE under the wings and on the nose. After this publicity stunt, the aircraft was returned to standard colors and sent to the Pacific. It developed mechanical issues and was eventually damaged in an accident and likely scrapped. https://planehistoria.com/the-p-38s-less-known-sibling-xp-58-chain-lightning/

Razorback Wing's Ryan PT-22 Soars into North Little Rock Airshow on October 11th and 12th

North Little Rock, Arkansas – History takes flight as the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Razorback Wing brings their beloved Ryan PT-22 Recruit to the North Little Rock Airshow on October 11th and 12th. This meticulously maintained classic will grace the skies, offering a glimpse into the world of World War II pilot training.

The PT-22, nicknamed "Recruit," played a pivotal role in shaping America's "Greatest Generation" of aviators. Built in 1941, the Razorback Wing's PT-22 represents a significant piece of aviation history. This low-wing monoplane trainer, the first of its kind for the U.S. Army Air Corps, transitioned pilots from biplanes to the more advanced aircraft used during the war.

"The PT-22 represents a chapter in our nation's history that should never be forgotten, and we are honored to keep it flying for future generations to experience."

The Razorback Wing will have a ground display where visitors can get up close to this historic aircraft and chat with the volunteer pilots and crew who maintain it.

Don't miss this unique opportunity to step back in time and witness a legend take flight at the North Little Rock Airshow!
