Isla MacDonald Jewellery

Hand crafted unique silver jewellery. I studied Jewellery and Silversmithing at Cardonald College in Glasgow for three years, graduating in 2008.

During the following three years I worked in jewellery sales and a workshop in Glasgow gaining varied experiences of the trade. This year I returned to live in the Highlands and have the opportunity to make my own designs again. I have focused on simple, fairly organic shapes and add colour with semi-precious gemstones. Send me a message if you are interested in any of the designs pictured.

Three commission rings! Amethyst set square ring is customer's birthstone and the 3 gold beads represent her siblings. Blue topaz ring was requested round, instead of square. And the silver spinner ring is for wearing on your thumb and fidgeting with.

A recent commission, collected on Saturday. Square bangle set with blue topaz, synthetic emerald and cubic zirconia! Something a bit different, stone colours represent important family members.

One of my favourite commissions! Stacking silver rings set with the customer's own, inherited stones. Sparkling diamonds, with a bright blue sapphire and a few yellow gold beads. Combining modern and traditional.

Lambing time, April distractions again!

I made something a bit different a few weeks ago. A silver and 9ct yellow gold ear cuff, this sits at the top of your ear and I reticulated the silver to add texture.
The gold and pearl square ring is a commission piece from a few years ago, it was in to be sized up slightly and have a pearl replaced. Looking good as new now.

Replacement stock all delivered to The Alchemist Gallery and Johnson's Jewellery! Shiny silver and colours that pop.

Special orders, I can make square rings in any size. They sit on a round ring stick 3 sizes smaller than they fit on your fingers because of the extra space created in the 4 corners. The 3 rings in the picture were specially ordered in the correct finger size for customers at the Alchemist Gallery.

First heart ring I've made in a few years, this is going on display in Johnson's Jewellery today. It sits sideways on the finger, so looks a bit different.

On Sunday I attended an exciting course at Vanilla Ink, The Smiddy in Banff. I learnt about working with titanium. It's starts of a slightly dull silver colour and then changes colour when you heat it up with a blowtorch. Really inspiring, just need to decide what to make next!
