● Benefits of the Glute Bridge ●

• Another awesome anytime, anywhere, equipment free exercise to add to your workout routine!

• The glutes are one of the strongest and most powerful muscles in the human body.

• The glute bridge will play a major role in improving lower body strength. Stronger glutes will in turn benefit your performance in a variety of exercises in your workout.

• Many people are surprised to learn that weak or tight hip flexors may actually be responsible for poor posture.Tight hip flexors cause your lower back to over-activate, which can lead to back stiffness or pain.

• The glute bridge can help strengthen and loosen your hip flexors, which will take pressure off your lower back and help you maintain proper posture.

● Let's Begin ●

• (Start Position) Start by lying on your back on a comfortable but stable surface in a bent-knee position with your feet flat on the floor. Place your feet hip-width apart with the toes in line with your knees. Gently contract your core muscles to flatten your low back into the floor.

*Mentally focusing on contracting and stabilizing your muscles*

• Step 2 (Extension) Breathe out while keeping your core contracted to stabilize and press your hips upwards off the floor into extension by contracting your glutes (bum muscles). Like the squat, push off your heels for better stabilization and contraction

*Avoid pushing your hips too high as this generally increases the amount of hyperextension (arching) in your low back. Maintaining your abdominal contraction helps avoid excessive arching in your low back*

• Step 3 Return to (Start Position) Breathe in and slowly lower yourself back down towards the starting position.

Distribution of dietary protein intake in daily meals influences skeletal muscle hypertrophy via the muscle clock 31/08/2021

💪

3 IMPORTANT MYTHS & FACTS ABOUT  “DIETS” EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW

MYTH - “Low fat foods are the best way to lose weight“ -

FACT - Some low fat foods may contain more calories than conventional non processed food. Not only do low fat products reduce the feeling of satiation (feeling full) leading you to consume more, they also contain additives and fillers to enhance taste which generally tend to be high amounts of modified sugars and/or salts. Remember it's always best to stick to nutrient dense whole foods when it comes to losing weight (fat) or maintaining your health in general.

MYTH - “Stay away from all carbs“

FACT - All carbs are not created equal. The body requires a specific amount of carbs to maintain homeostasis (Balance) and are an excellent energy source. Carbs are commonly broken down into 2 types, “Simple and Complex”.

Simple carbs are rapidly digested to provide energy quicker but for shorter periods than complex carbs. Simple carbs which spike blood sugar can be dangerous if not consumed in moderation to your body's demands.

On the other hand, complex carbs digest slowly which  provide sustained energy over a longer period of time. Complex carbs will also make you feel satiated longer throughout the day. A balanced diet including both simple and complex carbs based on your caloric needs would be a great place to start your “diet”.

MYTH - “Eating healthy is too expensive”

FACT - Is eating healthy really that expensive? Current studies throughout Canada and the U.S claim to show otherwise. With a lack of Nutritional knowledge along with our busy daily schedules, “convenience” becomes an important factor in deciding what we choose to eat.

For example. For around $20 you can choose between

A) Big Mac Meal with LRG Soda, LRG Fries and MCFLURRY “Dessert”. For $18.73

B) 2LB Ground Beef, 5LB Potatoes, 2LB Peas/Carrots, 2L Fruit Juice, $18.05
**Providing Multiple Meals**

What will you choose?

Remember, we're here to help, if there's something on you're mind give us a shout!
