Mari's Hallmark located at "395 Fort Salonga Road, Northport, NY 11768" is one of the best Hallmark Gold Crown stores in the country. In addition to cards, they always have very unique and well selected gift items, and shopping in this store has become part of many families' Christmas tradition in Northport.
UNFORTUNATELY, THE STORE WILL BE CLOSED BY THE END OF THE YEAR.
Please have your Christmas shopping with this store if you live in this area and tell the owner Mari that we need a store like this in Northport with the hope that miracle happens, and she does not have to close the store.
These are recent pictures from CVS, Walgreen's and Dollar Tree stores on Long Island, NY which have been awaiting shipments of Hallmark cards in the past few months due to problems with Hallmark’s new computer system, and the situation for small Hallmark stores is even worse.
Hallmark has dominated the greeting card market for more than 100 years, and excluding American Greetings, no other supplier has more than 1% of the market share. To further control the market, Hallmark requests that retailers sign an exclusive purchase agreement, and retailers, particularly small stores, are seriously punished if they buy greeting cards from other vendors. While thousands of small publishers are desperate for business, the stores are empty.
When a big company is allowed to manipulate the market, everyone will eventually suffer. To support small publishers, please post pictures of the empty Hallmark racks here, and let the store managers or owners know that you need something different for their greeting cards.
