🌎 Where in the (Walt Disney) World are we? 🌎

15/08/2023

Oops, we did it again 💫 🏃🏻‍♀️

We have been fans for decades and have been fortunate enough to have taken many trips to the parks but we recently had our first experience. In our opinion, it’s a COMPLETELY different type of vacation…

◾️Crowds - The ship can only accommodate a maximum number of passengers, regardless of the time of year you travel (and most Disney cruises sail at a very high occupancy, if not sold out). You’re not as likely to notice the difference in crowd level on a ship versus being in the theme parks, waiting in lines all day.

◾️Dining - There’s no rush to make a ton of advance dining reservations! We opted to not reserve speciality dining (due to the length of our trip) and had three amazing dining experiences (in restaurants in the regular dining rotation) without any additional advance planning or stress.

◾️Kid’s Club - Spending time together as a family is wonderful, but the opportunity to do some age-appropriate activities separately was important for our family too! Our kids begged to go to the Kid’s Club daily.

◾️Service - The ship has TONS of cast members in all departments. We never had to search more than a minute or two to find someone when we had questions.

◾️R & R - Let’s face it- a theme park vacation is often a SUPER busy, fast-paced trip filled with early mornings, long days, and late nights. With a cruise, you certainly still have that option (there are tons of excursions and activities happening all day long) but there’s definitely more time for relaxing and taking things at a leisurely pace!

🧳 Packing Hack! 🧳

We have traveled to a lot and in the past, I’ve always used gallon size ziptop bags to organize the kids outfits, and labeled each bag. This has worked great, but as the kids (and their clothes) get bigger and we travel to different places, I needed a new strategy.

I considered packing cubes, and then a friend recommended compression packing cubes (thanks !). Coincidentally my mother in law had some extras and let me borrow them for our most recent trip and they were a GAMECHANGER! I was packing for 10 days (6 in Disneyland and 4 in New Hampshire) and was able to fit ALL clothes for both kids into the bags pictured. That’s 8+ outfits, 2 swimsuits, 1 swim coverup, 3 pairs of PJs, socks, and un**es... EACH 🤯

These would have EASILY fit into one large suitcase with plenty of room to spare for toiletries, shoes, snacks, etc.

Added bonus? It kept each kid’s clothes organized and made unpacking (both at the hotel and upon returning home) super easy. I will definitely be using them in the future!

⭐️ What’s you favorite packing hack?! ⭐️

Our last park day brought us back into Disneyland one last time! We took a spin on Autopia and then conquered all three mountains (Space, Splash, and Big Thunder) before heading back to the pool for an early swim break 🏊🏻‍♀️

We returned to the park for an early dinner at Blue Bayou, took one final spin on the carousel (and unfortunately we’re not able to get the Mary Poppins horse), got some ice cream at the Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor, and made our way back to our hotel to pack up 🥺

It was an early night after a long, wonderful final day! 🏰

Day 4 kicked off in 🏰

We went right to and rode Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Tea Party, Storybook Land Canal boats, and Snow White’s Enchanted Wish with no wait! After riding the wildest ride in the wilderness, we took a break to enjoy some beignets in New Orleans Square ⚜️

We cruised through the jungle, watched the Tiki birds, cooled off with a Dole Whip, and then headed into Galaxy’s Edge 💫 After piloting the Millennium Falcon and fighting the First Order, we grabbed a cocktail at Oga’s Cantina 🍹

We took a little break to shop and cool off, then returned for dinner at The Hungry Bear restaurant, where we were dining with the Dining Package (more thoughts on that later!) 🐻

We snuck in a few more rides before locating our reserved viewing area for Fantasmic. This show was INCREDIBLE and we would highly recommend watching! Trying to leave the park afterwards was a bit tricky (the parade was also ending and the fireworks were about to begin) but after being stuck in a sea of people for a few minutes, we were able to exit the park quickly via a walkway behind Main Street💥

Before crashing for the night, we make a pit stop at Black Tap to the window for a MASSIVE milkshake! Nothing like indulging in a million grams of sugar just before bedtime 😜

We started day 3 with another early morning in park! We tested our web slinging skills, dropped in on Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout, took another race around Radiator Springs, and learned how sourdough bread is made 🍞 We picked up lunch from a few different locations (one major pro of mobile ordering!)

After a nice break (and another quick ride on Grizzly River Run) we headed to a kid-free dinner at Trader Sam’s! The food and drinks here were amazing, but it’s really the atmosphere here that cannot be beat! We met back in Disneyland to watch the Main Street Electrical Parade and the Disneyland Forever Fireworks to end a long (but wonderful!) day💥

Day 2 started off in Disney’s California Adventure Park! We caught the first flight of the day on Soarin’ and spent the rest of the morning enjoying Incredicoaster, Toy Story Mania, Pixar Pal-a-Round (in a swinging gondola🤢), Goofy’s Sky School, Jumpin’ Jellyfish, Silly Symphony Swings, Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, Luigi’s Rollickin Roadsters, and Guardians of the Galaxy (all before Noon!) ⭐️ After lunch at Pym’s Test Kitchen, we took a quick break to swim ☀️ Since we were already in swimsuits, we hopped back into the park just for Grizzly River Run 💦 before getting ready for dinner at Wine Country Trattoria 🍽 We visited Cars Land for a spin on Radiator Springs Racers and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree before hopping over to Disneyland for a few late night rides!

Our first day at was nothing short of amazing! We were able to take advantage of early entry, which allowed us into the park 30 minutes before it opened. We experienced so many rides during those first few hours (Peter Pan, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, King Arthur Carrousel, Pinocchio’s Journey, Dumbo, and Haunted Mansion all by 9:00 AM!). After a midday break, we headed over to for an incredible dinner at 🍽 We had time for a few thrills before ending the night watching 🌈

If we can offer one tip for air travel right now, it’s applying for TSA PreCheck! TSA PreCheck is a program offered through the Transportation Security Administration where applicants participate in an in-person, in depth security screening and background check, and once approved, then qualify for an expedited security screening line at most domestic airports.
✈️
We’ve traveled with this for the last several years and in our experience, have not waited more than 5 minutes in a security line! Individuals who have PreCheck also do not have to remove certain items, such as shoes, belts, and jackets, when proceeding through the line.
✈️
One additional major perk for families? When a parent has Pre Check, it applies to their children (under age 12) as well! This has been a huge timer-saver and stress-reliever for us, especially with how hectic air travel has been since the pandemic.
✈️
Once approved, you’re enrolled for five years, so if you plan on doing a bit of travel over the next few years it’s definitely something to consider! ✈️

Raise your hand if you’re the type of person who will set a pre-dawn alarm on vacation to join a local turtle walk to learn about sea turtles and scout for new and/or hatched nests 🙋🏻‍♀️ It’s not just me, right?! 😂

and volunteers patrol the local beaches every morning during nesting season as part of their sea turtle efforts. The nests are marked and protected, and there’s a ton of data and information collected as part of the process. Each Saturday for June and July, they invite the public to join and they do a fabulous job of explaining the whole process, as well as sharing local initiatives on how to protect the nests and hatchlings! 🐢

Last weekend we were lucky enough to enjoy a at Brenton Point State Park and just happened to get a perfect view of the Newport Kite Festival! This park offers some gorgeous views of the coast, and is a great spot to catch a sunset (and apparently also a great spot to fly a kite!) 🪁

One thing we hear all the time is “But is EPCOT even fun for kids?” EPCOT has a reputation of being a theme park that caters to adults but in our opinion, EPCOT is 100% fun for kids - as long as you know everything they have to offer! Like…

🌐 A perfect mix of family-friendly and thrilling rides and attractions.

🌐 Characters to meet and greet (from a distance).

🌐 A World Showcase, featuring shopping, dining, and attractions for eleven different countries (and each country includes a station with activities geared towards young world travelers).

🌐 Endless options for food, snacks, and drinks.

🌐 Live entertainment.

🌐 Tons of areas to explore and play (including an aquarium at The Seas pavilion!).

🌐 An brand new nighttime fireworks show!

🌐 A full calendar of annual festivals that bring even more entertainment, events, dining options, and activities to the park.

Our ? Don’t skip it!

One of my favorite ways to explore the resort areas is running! Many of the resorts even have signage for walking and running trails measured for distance.

The is particularly fun; you have the ability to see five resorts ( and ) and can even sneak a peak at two theme parks ( and ).

Plus, you can’t beat these views 😍
