Gathering and foraging natural and synthetic indigo has definitely been an experience. My journey started in Georgia and has taken me to California. I’ve created and collected samples from both a synthetic dye bath and natural vat. I’ve practiced different dye techniques on natural fabrics spanning from linen to cotton. So now, I’m ready to create and indigo inspired fabric collection for a custom wide leg pant. The wide leg pant is the first pattern under the copyright Seed To Fiber Studio (Seed to FibreTextile Art Program) The pant will be available for Summer 2024. I’m only going to have 12 pants available (4. each S, M, L) in the indigo fabric created for the collection I See the Moon as Blue; My Work With Indigo. The name of the collage art piece “The Moon is Velvet” was shown in the opening of the Fairfield-Suisun City Visual Arts Association Salon Collective Gallery. The art piece was made from hand dyed samples of silk gauze and silk velvet that were collaged along with chalk pastels.
