I’ve been too busy to do much life coaching/brain change work for a while and I don’t want my magic to get rusty!!

First five people to comment or DM me get a free targeted 30 minute session with me over zoom.

I say targeted because my first question will be “What do you want to change today?” and we only have 30 minutes. Which is more than plenty of time if we focus. (Me? Focus instead of chat? Get outta here…🤣)

Female Passenger #1™️ welcomes you aboard the SS American!

It’s opening night of Anything Goes! And it’s even better that my love is right above me in the orchestra loft playing drums. 🥰

Right now, I’m thinking about how community theater can be a hard hobby to love because it’s a LOT of time investment in the midst of work and kids and life and back to school and dentist appointments and desperately trying to get enough sleep.

But it has brought me so much. Friends, a creative outlet, and most of all, the love of my life.

My one bold decision to get out of my comfort zone and audition for a show in 2018 (when I didn’t know how I’d possibly make it work) has rippled out into every area of my life.

Do what you love. In whatever capacity you can. I promise it will make all the difference. 💋

Here’s your reminder that social media is a highlight reel.

What you see and know of others’ lives is merely what they choose for you to see, even IRL.

Real life is so much MORE—more painful, more hypocritical, more silly, more beautiful, more confusing, more conflicting, more fulfilling.

You might not even consciously realize that you’re comparing yourself to others, like, “Oh, I know better than to do that!”

But it’s insidious.

Be careful who/what you follow. If it isn’t ADDING to your life somehow, ditch it. Mute it. Even if it’s me.

And on that note, please enjoy this “real” wedding picture… 🤪🤪🤪

I’ve been surprised with how many happy tears I’ve shed over the past 24 hours. I couldn’t even get through the first three words of my vows without blubbering… [see photo]

But two other totally unexpected instances had me teary:

My dear friend who came to the wedding told me I saved her life. That I am magic. That working with me healed issues for her at her lowest and most dark.

Another client reached out at random to say something similar. That her entire life is now different after she sought help through an anxious and uncertain time.

Here’s what I’m thinking—If they were the only two people whose lives have been transformed through working with me, all of the investment and learning and effort would be worth it.

But I’m not stopping there. We ALL deserve less anxiety, more ease and peace.

We deserve brains that work WITH us and not against us in an attempt to keep us safe.

So I’m committed to showing up. Telling you what is possible. Painting the picture of how things could be different if [insert issue here] wasn’t a problem anymore.

The weather was perfect. The timing was perfect. The pictures are stunning… couldn’t have asked for a better (tiny and somewhat impromptu) wedding!

We even had the perfect amount of ridiculous bystander hilarity…

Everything I want to say sounds tired and trite.

Sometimes, I’m insightful and inspirational.

Sometimes, I’m just tired. The world sucks. And trite isn’t gonna cut it.

I’m tired of seeing a highlight reel on here and knowing that’s not real life. Not for most of us.

I’m tired of being fake. “I’m fine, you?”

I’m tired of the fake-ass life coach world that says things like “live your best life!” and “become your most authentic self!”

(Yes, I’ve said those things myself. Cringe.)

Not because those things aren’t possible or worthy, though vague, goals.

But because it reeks of typical life coach speak: “Give me your money so *I* can succeed and paint you an illusion of solving all your problems and then blame you when you don’t reach the level of results you want.”

No. We aren’t doing that. At least not here.

We ARE rewiring nervous systems for peace while chaos continues.

We ARE changing automatic reactions so that obnoxious boss, that entitled sibling, or that nitpicky parent just doesn’t bother you like they used to. (In fact, you may even come to find their typical behavior amusing…)

We ARE changing what we can and dealing with what we can’t.

We ARE telling anxious thoughts where they can go…

We ARE… it all sounds fake again. Damm!t.

It’s not fake. I know it. I’ve lived it, I’ve facilitated it, I’ve preached it.

But every time I put “pen” to “paper”, I get to a certain point where I’m like “This sounds dumb. No one will believe this isn’t BS.“

So here we are.

I could give you testimonial after testimonial of why you should work with me. But that just doesn’t feel right right now.

It probably will at some point. But not today.

If you’re struggling, I see you. And I want to help. I’m equipped to help.

But fluffy, pie-in-the-sky words aren’t happening today.

I hope you have as good of a day as you can. 💜

Everything changes when you learn to write yourself a permission slip.

Right now, on this rainy spring break morning, I’m in bed with a book and a mug of coffee.

And I came to the sudden realization that I never do this.

Do I spend “too long” in bed on my days off, distracting myself with my phone so I don’t feel so guilty? Absolutely.

But when was the last time I simply gave myself permission to enjoy my bed? No guilt, no distractions, no limits, no talking myself into five more minutes before I have to get up.

Just giving myself permission to be the way I want to be, right now. Because I can. Until it’s time to herd my offspring to the dentist.

That sure shuts my inner critic up. And fast. (Her name is Doris, she likes to take a nice hike when I tell her to.)

Give yourself permission today to:

📝Not get everything done on your list (ouch)
📝Take a moment to enjoy a cup of something delicious, a song, a deep breath or five
📝Be a “b!tch” sometimes (you’re probably just being assertive)
📝Know what you want, and ask for it
📝Like what you like without explanation
📝Put yourself first for once
📝Be human

I think it goes without saying (but this is the internet so of course it doesn’t…) that permission obviously does not extend to things that would harm others. Like don’t give yourself permission to muckduck your nasty boss. I am not responsible for that ish, ok?

But I think it’s those of us who are harder on ourselves than ANYONE ELSE COULD BE who need to play around with permission.

If I was handing out magical permission slips today, what would yours be for? 🪄📝

Please tell me I’m not the only one who was stuck for so long in the “I’m aware but what do I DO about it?!” stage??

Let’s get your brain on board. Let’s teach it how you want to respond, how you want to feel.

Useful for: well, really anything.

Today, when asked me how I wanted to feel about a certain situation, this was my answer.

I said it several times, with intensifying degrees of dramatic flair. And some kind of unrecognizable accent that had us in stitches. 🤣🤣🤣

I LOVE doing practice sessions with my fellow Integrative Change Work coaches. Whether I’m giving or receiving, I always get something out of it.

Wanna give fewer effs about that b!tchy coworker who always tries to throw you under the bus?

Or what your mother-in-law thinks of your parenting?

Or that task you’ve been dreeeeeaaaaading? (It is tax season in the US, after all…)

Tell me whyyyyyyyy…

Hey moms—

What keeps you in the Mom Hole??

(Don’t know what I mean? Read on. ➡️)

If you’re not familiar, that’s my word for the survival mode of tending to everyone else’s needs, where you don’t have the time or energy to think about anything but SURVIVING.

At some point, when kids are old enough to get their own snack or wipe their own butts, or you find some reliable and affordable help/childcare (ha!🤞)…

you start to crawl out.

And kind of like Punxsutawney Phil, you look around you, blinking in the daylight, wondering where you are??

And how you got there??
And whose life is this??
And who you are anymore…

It’s not easy crawling out.
Answering those questions.
Feeling like YOU deserve the care you’ve been doling out to others for so long.

But it’s possible. Totally possible.

I’m here to help you figure out the HOW and the WHY.

Your environment matters.

It’s hard to have an uncluttered mind when your living space is full of half-eaten cereal bowls and piles of wrappers and old papers and puzzles with missing pieces. (All things that were in my space as of yesterday…)

It’s much harder to heal in the same environment as the one where you were hurt or sick.

AND

Your environment doesn’t matter.

It can make all the difference to put your blinders on to the mess and focus on your hobbies, your fun, caring for yourself.

A nap can be more useful than folding laundry, some gentle movement and a meditation more pressing than organizing that cabinet full of only-a-deity-knows-what.

BOTH can be true at the same time.

So, I’ve rearranged my space. I’m painting it purple.

There’s already a different energy in here. 😁💜

It’s always scary when you have a blank screen.

When your computer is dusty, barely used for months, requiring updates to even know what day it is.

IT’S A METAPHOR FOR LIFE, I realize, as I sit here and wait.

The blank screen, though necessary to reboot, is always a little unsettling.

But I’m reminded that I’m restarting. Regrouping. Becoming something awesome after starting over.

I have everything I need. I know where I’m going. I have the knowledge and the skills to build the life I want, and now it’s time to put that ish into action.

I have the paint for that wall you see behind my computer. We’ve done the patching and the sanding and the color picking. Now it’s just time to DO IT.

Who else is ready to DO THE THINGS you know will make you feel good?

✨That will make your life, your career, your hobbies, your lifestyle LOOK AND FEEL the way you want?✨

Yes, I’m a broken record about this. And I will continue to be.

Because, (and mamas, I’m going to call you out specifically,) it’s how I got my life back.

It’s how I got mySELF back after babies. After divorce. After navigating a lot of personal bullsh*ttery.

Being onstage in a musical is more than just a fun hobby, though it *is* that.

It makes me feel like ME. As I play someone else. 🤣

What is it that lights you up? And how can you do that IN SOME TINY CAPACITY TODAY??

🔥Sing a song in your kitchen.

🔥Take a short walk.

🔥Make a fancy snack.

🔥Do some yoga in the backyard.

It doesn’t have to be huge, though I totally advocate for going big when you can.

Start small. You might be surprised how much more *yourself* you feel.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand toxic positivity.

When you’re feeling like utter 💩 and someone tells you to think positive? Vibrate higher or some s**+ like that? Naw dog.

Here’s a much more accessible question.

Save this one and keep it in your back pocket. And then focus on what is ok.

I’m not too hot or too cold.

I’m close to a bathroom if needed.

My knee doesn’t hurt.

My kids are happily playing legos.

The sun is shining.

Etc etc. Get creative if you have to.

I hope your weekend was exceedingly ok. 💜

Have you ever felt guilty for needing help? Then when you get it, apologizing for your need in the first place?

Yeah, our dumba$$ culture has conditioned us to feel bad for needing help even when we truly need it.

We’re also conditioned to feel bad for wanting more/better when we have “enough”. (Funny how that definition can vary…)

The only time we are allowed to feel good is when we are giving of ourselves, usually to the point of burning out and losing ourselves. That’s “selfless”.

Oof.

Getting yourself the help you need is not selfish. (And NOT just that whole BS “oxygen mask” thing so you can help others, though it’s true. You deserve it JUST BECAUSE.)

Wanting more out of life, pursuing better, does NOT make you an ungrateful little be**ch.

It does take shifting your thinking, helping your brain to believe that you deserve to GO AFTER and GET what you want.

You don’t have to do it alone.

It’s faster and more fun with someone who ✨HAS YOUR BACK✨
