Maria Marsbarsart
I am an Atlanta artist and crafter and I create acrylic paintings, origami jewelry, recycled art, and whatever else I decide to discover.
Tickets for my next class are LIVE! In this intermediate class, I will be teaching everyone how to crochet cat hats and embellishments! All materials will be provided, just bring yourself!
⭐️ I want to stress that I will not be teaching any basic crochet stitches in this workshop. Therefore if you are not familiar with crocheting basic stitches, please do not join this class! It is MANDATORY to know the basics of crochet for this class! I REPEAT, THIS IS NOT CROCHET 101! ⭐️

My first-ever Scrapbooking workshop at Scraplanta was a blast, and I’m so glad that everyone had a great time! 🥳
People even told me that I should make it a regular thing (which I am seriously considering)! I’m impressed by the spreads people came up with and there was definitely some mutual inspiration going on!
Thanks for having me, !
Pic credits go to and .__ ! 📸
I’d like to thank for encouraging me to teach a scrapbooking class in the first place! 🫶🏼
I may have another scrapbooking workshop in August, but in the meantime, I’m having a crochet workshop in the works! Stay tuned! 🫶🏼

Cinnamon may hate me for making her look like a little old British lady, and I’m okay with that 😂 🇬🇧
Crochet made by me, of course.

Haven’t posted in a bit because I’ve been busy with my new life as a grad student. But I still dabble in my creative stuff in between work and classes. Interesting extremely proud of this sweater I made for a client.
It was my first time using 100% wool, which is kinda scratchy. I’ve only ever used acrylic and blends before, but the stitch definition with wool is 👌🏻👌🏻I used a badly written vintage pattern for this, it’s a miracle that I actually completed it lol. It took me a little over a month to make this. I almost want to keep it for myself but it makes me look like I’ve gained weight instead of losing it! 😅

Notice something? I’ve been using more green in my work. Green is a color I always have a hard time using. I’m not sure why. But it’s gotten easier to incorporate green in my art. I think it’s because I’ve been more in tune with nature. Here’s to making progress! 🥂🌿🌵

I’m having the hardest time deciding which festivals I should apply to be a vendor at! There’s so many cities I want to expand into, but I’m trying to keep it to 2-3 fall festivals. I’ve noticed how the booth fees have increased 😬 so I’m trying to make the right choice.
Which festival(s) do YOU think I should do? 👇🏻

I don’t know why I thought that the festival is from July 1-3, but that is a mistake! The Peachtree Corners Festival will be from July 2nd to July 3rd. Hope to see y’all soon!!

Starts next week! Come on out to see me! Across the street from the Forum at Peachtree Corners!

Finished my little red box! This is far from perfect, but I think it’s imperfections give it some personality. This box will be available for purchase at my upcoming craft show in Peachtree Corners!

Hey y’all! 👋🏻
I’m still here, just taking a hiatus from posting. I’m still working on my stuff, like this necklace armoire right here. Currently, I’m traveling, and probably won’t start on something new until next week. But I’m having a lot of fun visiting new places and finding inspiration every day! 😄

Nature, especially water, always inspires me. It’s why I try to hike so much. It’s soothing and makes for a terrific getaway and leaves me energized.
What inspires you? ⬇️

I was reading a few articles about how art benefits mental health and then I word-vomited my thoughts about the articles into my journal. After some self-reflection, I came up with this post. I hope this can help some of you non-artists understand your creative friends.
Being an artist is hard work! But it is a significant part of my identity I would never trade, sell, or sacrifice. Being a creative makes life worth living, even though my best works often come from my worst moments.
Let me know what y’all think about this post! Can you relate?

Preparing for a craft show is no easy task. It takes a lot out of you physically, emotionally, creatively, and sometimes, even financially. Like all things in life, it has its good, bad, and ugly. Preparing for craft shows leaves me exhausted for days, but it’s always a learning experience!

Repost from :
Lately, I’ve been thinking about where I want to go with MarsBarsArt. When people ask me if I do this as a side hustle or a hobby, I often don’t know how to answer. Ideally, I’d like to keep participating in shows as a side hustle, for the rest of my life.
This started out as a way to make extra cash by selling my artwork and handmade crafts, but has delved into so much more. Through MarsBarsArt, I’ve been immersed into the world of art festivals and craft shows, magazine features, displaying my art in cafés and gift shops, having valuable connections, networking, and as healing emotional wounds and gaining confidence in myself through self-exploration and self art therapy. By daring to experiment, I’ve learned how to express my creativity in ways I’ve never thought imaginable— decoupage, upcycled furniture, masquerade masks, steampunk, fiber arts, mixed media.
So I try not to think too hard about not being a “conventional” artist that sticks to one medium and worries about sales, rather than finding themselves through creating. I don’t really have a sales goal for my Etsy shop. I don’t always try to maximize profits. I don’t often care about what to make and sell, based on what’s trendy. I often lose more money than I make.
Money and appreciation are always nice, but I must often remind myself why I really do all that I do— for myself. 💙

Throwback to some old projects of mine!
A few years ago, I changed my approach to art from using traditional mediums to incorporating elements such as mixed media and found items. I recycled hundreds of broken crayons, shards of broken glass, Starbucks bottles, magazines, and broken jewelry bits into my artwork, and began using new surfaces like thrifted boxes. In this way, I’m giving these scraps and waste materials a second chance at life and saving them from the landfill. That’s how I’m contributing to ! 🌎

Hey guys! I know I haven’t really updated my Etsy shop lately because I’ve been busy pursuing other things, but that has changed! I’ve added new items to my shop, in order to downsize and have more room for craft show exclusives!
I’ve added these three to my shop. They are perfect for Mother’s Day, bridal, or anniversary gifts to the special queen in your life!
My Etsy shop is in the linktree in my bio!

I have an idea, and I’ve been wondering if it’s something y’all would be onboard with.
I’ve been noticing the increasing amount of love and support I’m getting from you guys, regarding my recent products and craft show ambitions. I appreciate it a lot.
That being said, what if I printed out and sold, let’s say, 10-15 shirts depicting my logo? Anyone who shows up to my upcoming craft shows wearing this shirt gets a set discount (TBD) on their total purchase.
I think it would increase visibility of my brand and put the word out there. Let me know what y’all honestly think by DMing me or commenting below! 👇🏻

Can you tell that my favorite color is blue? 💙
Three weeks and two gigantic balls (of yarn) later, I’ve finished this crochet masterpiece. It wasn’t hard to work up, but the yarn constantly tangled, which made it incredibly frustrating to use. But knowing me, I’m gonna head to Michael’s and buy a yarn and start this process all over again.
I’m so happy with how this crochet blanket turned out. It’s my first finished crochet blanket! It’s so warm and heavy and cozy— perfect for sleeping the day away during Ramadan 😝

Y’all probably think I’m insane and hella disorganized because I work on so many projects at the same time, sometimes abandoning new projects to start new ones. And you know what? You’re absolutely correct 😇
I’m taking breaks in between my steampunk/decoupage/box art by working on this blanket. I’m using ‘ Caron Anniversary Yarn, which are ginormous, limited edition balls of yarn, which I had sitting around for a while since I’m hella indecisive and didn’t know what to do with them. It’s a chunkier yarn and I know it’s starting to warm up soon, but do you see all this blue? It’s speaking my language! 💙 More updates soon.

This frame was hella fun to make! I bought silver wax paste to experiment with, and it did not disappoint! I didn’t want to use up all my clay and embellishments making steampunk themed projects, so I thought I’d get a little gothic instead. I bought some clearance molds from to make the borders and the corners were from the clearance section as well. I had a crow necklace that I didn’t wear anymore (mainly cuz I always forget that I have it lol) and that was the cherry on top.
I know a lot of my art and crafts are bright, with happy colors, but lately, I’ve been feeling anything but happy and bright. I should make more dark and depressing art.
This frame will be available at my upcoming spring show! Should I make more frames like this one? 👇🏻
