The 49 Degrees North Ski Patrol will not be holding their annual ski swap this year.

Traditionally, the ski swap was held at the Colville Fairgrounds on the second to last weekend in October. Due to a scheduling conflict, the building at the fairgrounds was unavailable. An alternate, suitable venue could not be found nor another weekend due to conflicting ski vendor schedules with ski swaps across region.

The 49 Degrees North Ski Patrol appreciates the continued support we receive from the community at the ski swap year after year. The money raised at the ski swap funds the training and equipment required to readily help skiers and riders in need.

The ski patrol trains throughout the fall and winter to be ready to take on any possible medical situation that may occur on the ski hill. Our primary mission is safety. We are the first ones to inspect the runs in the morning to make sure that they are safe for the skiing public. And are the last ones to sweep the runs at the end of the day to make sure everyone is off the mountain. You will often see patrollers resetting signs and rope lines to make sure that everyone can enjoy the mountain experience safely.

The ski patrol is primarily made up of volunteers who have a love of skiing and a passion for helping out others in need. We do have a small paid patrol that runs the chainsaws and other safety-related projects around the mountain. The volunteers make up the bulk of the people in patrol jackets you see on the slopes. If you are interested in joining the 49 Degrees North Ski Patrol, or if you would just like to come patrol with us for a day, you can ask any patroller you see on the mountain or visit our website at https://www.ski49n.com/mountain-info/safety-ski-patrol.

Great day on the mountain. A photo of one of our candidates earning his red jacket from last month. Good job Lennert. Toboggan training is always on the agenda, especially in tough snow conditions and random shots of our patrollers having a great time.
