My love for all things Asian is the lens through which I create the TEMPLE brand.

✨I designed our diffuser glass to emulate the graceful lines of the ancient pagodas, with the 24 glass facets being a symbolic reference to the shimmering glass structures of Singapore's skyline.

🇸🇬 In a nod to Singapore's rich history, our signature gift boxes a created in a timeless monochrome colour scheme, paying tribute to the iconic 'Black and White' colonial architecture found throughout the island.

Set in sprawling estates, these grand homes are symbols of the islands cultural legacy and are of great historical significance.

❤️And of course our famous Eternal Knot tassels, each hand woven and adorning our signature gift boxes.

I'll admit it, I'm a bit obsessed 🥰. Fragrance is my absolute obsession!

🎓As a graduate of perfumery school in Grasse, France - the perfume capital of the world! - I'm passionate about creating scents that scientifically change your mood and make you happy!

There are literally thousands of olfactory notes to consider when creating a fragrance. But to begin, perfumers categorize scents into FOUR main fragrance families:

- 🍋Fresh (citrusy and uplifting)
- 🌸Floral (romantic and delicate)
- 🟠Ambers (warm and rich)
- 🪵Woods (earthy and grounding)

⚙️ Perfumers use a fragrance wheel to organize scents into these groups. It's like a color wheel, but for smells!

💐With thousands of scents to explore, I train my nose every day to identify new fragrances and create unique blends for you. (The more you train your sense of smell, the better it becomes!).

Hello & happy-almost-Friday lovelies!

Well this week has seen me hang up my apron quite literally on school lunches, school breakfasts and the litany of school emails that I inevitably always drop the ball(s) on.

The end of an era, as my youngest kiddo finished Year 12, a week ago today! ... where DOES the time go??!
Congratulations to ALL the Year 12's as they now set their sights on their final exams 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 They have all worked incredibly hard and I'm so, so proud of them all.

🏆Congratulations to all the Mums too! You did it!! 🎉
🥂We celebrated & raised a glass of champagne to ourselves last week, because it's a team effort after all! Honestly, the day Motherhood is celebrated & revered as much as corporate success is - when the job of nurturing, & raising the next generation is put on the pedestal it deserves - it will be a GREAT day for humanity. That's the world I want to see!🤞
To ALL the Mothers; you are literally the bedrock of society, and I'm honoured to be part of your tribe 🙌

For me now, I'm still waking up at the crack of dawn because that's just how my body clock is trained to work 🤷‍♀️....I just hope my subconscious kicks in soon and gives me an extra hour of sleep! Still, it's going to be weird - no school?? Ever again???!!! It hasn't sunk in yet.

I've loved every minute of being the Mother of school aged kids (ok ngl, I WON'T miss the emails from Head of Year for my kiddo being late all the time 😬), but I guess it's a new beginning for us all.

It was also my birthday last month - wow 52 snuck up super fast! 😱 But I'm feeling all the optimism of 26 year old me .... perhaps it's just the prospect of never having to make school lunches again?? 🤣🤣

Anyway, I hope you've had a great week so far. Now that school's over, I'll stop boring you to death with my nostalgic musings 😆 ....oh but wait, my son still has to leave the country next year for uni (total empty nester) and I have to farewell a bunch of my beautiful Mum friends 🤦‍♀️🥹...I guess you're stuck with me for a bit longer then!

🥰 We've just wrapped up an incredible week hosting friends after the Grand Prix. One of the best things about living in Singapore is having a constant supply of friends visiting! There's nothing like reuniting with the ones we love and seeing them feel at home in our home.

I cherish these days together – sharing stories, laughter, and making unforgettable memories. I think hosting is all about the little touches too:

🕯️Ever found yourself mesmerised by the gentle flame of a candle?

You might have been practising an ancient yoga practise without even knowing it 😌.

Called 'Trataka', it's an ancient yogic focusing technique defined by the Hatha Yoga Pradipika as "looking intently and with an unwavering gaze at a small point until the tears shed".

The practise of Trataka boosts concentration and memory, and also paves the way for a deeper meditation practise. Because it is one of the six cleansing actions, it is also said to clean and heals the eyes.

Ready to try? 🤗;

1. Begin with your eyes closed, breathe deeply and calm your body. Then open your eyes and rest your gaze on the middle part of the flame, right above the tip of the wick.

2. Keep your eyelids slightly more open than usual, and maintain your gaze without blinking or blurring your vision for as long as possible. Observe any thoughts that arise and let them come and go without being engaged.

3. Close your eyes only when they begin to strain and water and you can no longer sustain the gaze. Cup your palms gently over the eyes to ease the strain, but don't rub your eyes. Gently wipe away any tears with a tissue.

4. With your eyes still closed, find the after-image of the flame in your minds-eye, resting your awareness at the 'ajna' chakra, or eyebrow centre. Stabilize the image in the centre of your minds eye & fix your gaze until the image disappears.

You can also follow the practise of Trataka with meditation 🙏

📴💔 Rekindling one of my first loves - getting lost in the pages of a real book, by candlelight 🕯️.

It's a romance that had faded over time, with my ever-increasing time on 'the 'gram' for work and scrolling until the early hours... Endless hours, admittedly, of accumulating knowledge I'll never use 🤯.....organisational tools, anti-aging face yoga, the blue zone diet, where to buy a castle in France 🤪....and on and on... 📚

Over the past few months, I've prioritised reading again, and I can't tell you how good it feels! It literally feeds the soul 🌞. My screen hours are way down, and I feel physically drawn to pick up my book, giving my device the cold shoulder ❄️.

And have you been to Kinokuniya lately? 📚 It's absolutely packed on the weekends! People are reading physical books again! 🎉 I'm not reading any literary greats, mind you - you don't have to - read for fun, for escapism 📖. I'm currently reading "One Day", a soppy love story about unrequited love and the blurred lines of friendship 💔. It's currently on Netflix too, so if you're looking for a rainy day chick flick before/after you read the book, this is a good one! 📺

Before that, I read 's latest book, "Let's Talk About Loneliness", which is a thought-provoking and empathetic exploration of human connection & emotion 💬. Highly recommend! 🤩

Reclaiming my time away from my phone was wholly inspired by my eldest son, who at 22, is shunning all social media along with his university cohorts, going about his daily life WITHOUT his phone in his pocket (what??!) and returning to it only after the day is done in its newly grey-screened capacity for necessity only 📵.

So, is this a thing? Is the next generation over social media? 🤔 I was amazed to hear that there are pockets of his generation that are shunning & reevaluating the value of social media and seeking a healthier balance. 💔.

After blissful summer days away, I still love coming back to my beautiful island home 🥰.
So what's the secret feeling contentment?
It's all about creating a home you can't wait to return to.

Creating a beautiful home makes you feel good - but it's got nothing to do with how much money you spend, and it's got everything to do with making it as beautiful as you can, using the resources you have.
As an Interior Designer by trade and a long-term expat, I still believe you can put your personal stamp on your temporary home.

👉Invest in quality decorative elements that will transition WITH you to your next home; the initial excitement of arriving in the tropics and adding island-inspired elements to every room is tempting, but believe me, they won't transition well to your next far-away home!

Instead opt for excellent quality, classic elements that have longevity of design.

That's why I created the TEMPLE range;

⭐️ Aesthetic candles that add a touch of glamour and fill the room with fine fragrance

They really 'make' a room, and are the easiest way to transform any space.

As an Interior Designer by trade, here are just a few of my guiding principles to keep in mind:

1. Buy cushions in pairs (can't tell you the amount of times I've bought just 1 as an accent, then in the next home I kick myself because I'll need 2! 🤦‍♀️)
2. Feather filled cushion inners - always! Never buy cushions with stiff fibre fillers. They cheapen the look of any aesthetic.
3. Tissues boxes are NOT a design element. I've seen this a lot here - why??? Please don't decorate your coffee table with tissue boxes. Keep them to bathrooms only & bring out when needed.
4. You can never have too many candles. (But don't buy ones with ugly labels!) Think about the scent, and what mood you want to create.

In my opinion, a well finished room just isn't complete without cushions or candles! They make your home truly special and one you'll love to open the door to at the end of the day & feel great about!
