Are you present in your life, your body, your business? Maybe its time for a Body Mind Business Deto What Is Kismet? It’s more like work-life immersion.
Do you run a small business that isn’t bringing you the joy or success you want? Would you love to start something of your own but haven’t taken the leap? What is getting in the way of you moving forward to create the business you want? Beth Brodovsky and Kirstin Carey have been there. As long-time small business owners, we have felt the fear of trying something new, survived a see-sawing economy,
agonized over taking risks, and spent many nights starting at the ceiling unable to sleep. As we built and grew our businesses we both noticed the toll it took on our energy, emotions, physical state. And we realized how easy it is to compartmentalize, to be up one day and down the next, to focus so completely on making things work in one area that the other balls in your life start slipping. When it comes to being self-employed, work-life balance just doesn’t apply. Every hour of every day it’s your job to keep the business alive. That’s even more stressful when you have no thought and no skills for self care. But believe it or not, your business needs you to focus on other things than your business. Creating energy by sleeping, eating well, and exercising all feeds your business. Taking time away to settle your mind, refresh and strategize is critical to moving forward. Its so easy to forget that and even harder if you never knew it in the first place. Creating something that supports you financially is an incredible feeling. It gives you the chance to change and adapt as the economy and your interests change. But it’s no cakewalk. Friends and family don’t always get your consuming interest in your work. There’s no mentor or guidebook. And despite how you make it look to others it can be hard to believe in yourself and your abilities all the time. As crazy as all this sounds, neither one of us would trade a minute of being self employed for going back to traditional jobs. Let us share the ways we’ve integrated our lives to create businesses that keep us exited to go to work every day.
