This summer Duplex visited Dessiè in Tuscany to interpret and reveal the spirit of this unique brand with a raw yet refined aesthetic.

Dessiè collaborates with prominent designers like Jamie Tresserra, Miguel Milà, and Stéphan Lebrùn. They artfully reinterpret precious woods, metals and saddle leather bringing them into a post-industrial context.

Founded by Riccardo Iannello, Dessiè pays tribute to a manufacturing tradition strongly linked to architecture to create pieces with a soul of their own. Dessiè excels in bespoke projects, including custom wine cellars and stairways, tailoring their creations to meet the specific vision of the clientele.

BERG tables by John Pawson for Wonderglass. The character of the Berg table is inseparable from its materiality. Every detail of the design derives from the mesmerising visual and tactile qualities of cast glass and from the scope the medium allows for exploring the charged threshold between concreteness and abstraction. The form of the table is kept purposefully simple, to emphasise the beauty of the glass and the skill of the Venetian artisans. A rectangular glass top with rounded corners rests on two rectangular glass blocks. The heights and spacing of the blocks and the proportions of the top are variously combined to create distinct conditions: a side table and a coffee table. Fabricating each piece by hand rather than by industrial processes ensures that every iteration is unique, in terms of its surface texture and the pattern
of tiny bubbles suspended within the glass. Discover them at duplexdsgn.com

The Flocks collection was inspired by the sinuous and hypnotic movement of flocks of birds in the autumn sky. The top of these side tables are made of sheets of brass or copper, in simple circles or intersecting circular shapes, resting on one or two cylinders of different diameters. Chromatic contrast is accentuated by the graphic pattern of the DeErosion finishing: the table tops gain a three-dimensional, tactile aspect that emerges on the surface with natural refinement. LUNAR by Faye Toogood for Tacchini. Lunar form a constellation of scrunchable, glowing lights designed by Faye Toogood. This range of lighting epitomises Toogood’s playful and tactile taxonomy of materials. Lunar are quilted pendant lights with crumpled, papery covers. Internal wadding diffuses the light, giving Lunar a soft glow. Although each light is the same design the crunchable material framing the bulb can be scrunched and folded, holding shape and giving each light its own unique character. You could hang a whole room with Lunar and no two would be look exactly the same. With a nod to the light’s origins, Lunar is available in international paper sizes A2, A1 and A0. AARE by Alexander Purcell Rodrigues for DeCastelli. The Aare Gorge in Switzerland is testimony to natural erosion, shaped by the last ice age. Here, a river originating from melting glaciers once carved deep into the rock, cutting to its core. Thus, little by little, light began working its way into the cracks, amid ancient limestone stratifications. The manual erosion technique used on the metal sheet of Aare is its modern echo, recreating the natural look of the rock along its surfaces. Thanks to a centre slit, these wall sconces take on the archetypical form of earthly geography sculpted by ice, reproducing its prehistoric beauty, as if they too were forged centuries ago. REMIS by Patricia Urquiola for GLAS ITALIA. Collection composed by a low table and a console with a wooden structure completely covered by a mosaic of cast glass tiles in various and random colours. The tiles are shaped and positioned so that the surface reproduces the axonometric projection of a parallelepiped element. The pieces are completed by functional invisible drawers with a push-pull opening system. Discover them at duplexdsgn.com
