Axiom of Light: “Truth has no regard for popularity.”
The truth may not always be popular, but it is always the right path. Always seek the truth, no matter how difficult it may be to accept or understand. Be Responsible with your thoughts, words, and actions. As elusive as the truth can be, this Axiom reminds us that the truth is not determined by what is popular or widely accepted but by its inherent nature. You are encouraged to question commonly held beliefs and to be open-minded and willing to change views in light of new information or evidence. It requires wisdom, knowledge, and an open mind.

As a sentient being endowed with consciousness and feelings, you are a vessel of energy, a vessel pulsating with the frequencies of your thoughts, emotions, and intentions. Your very existence is a manifestation of energy in motion, a continuous exchange of vibrations that reverberate throughout the universe. This connection invites all of us to see beyond the veil of separation and embrace the unity that underlies all of existence and creation. It encourages us to see the beauty in diversity and dichotomy and the harmony in interconnectedness. When you open your heart and mind to this universal truth, you will start to experience a profound sense of peace and wholeness that transcends any other. As you become more aware of this connection, I want you to understand that every thought you think, every word you speak, and every action you take has a ripple effect that extends far beyond yourself. We are not separate individuals floating in isolation, but rather integral parts of a larger whole. By attuning yourself to this energy, you will have access to a wellspring of wisdom that will guide you on your journey through life if you allow it.

Axiom of Light: “Before you can break free of negative or improper influences, you must first recognize them.”
Before you can break free of the shackles of negative or improper influences, you must first become aware of their presence. The greatest lie ever told is the one we tell ourselves. Damaging mental programs can subtly incapacitate our thoughts and actions before we even get started. By using the inventory process, by taking an honest look at yourself through introspection and contemplation, you can begin to become aware of them. As you continue to explore what makes you tick, you can then take the necessary steps to remove them. A wise person practices Alchemy within to ensure a positive and prosperous change for the better. This alchemy requires self-awareness when negative thoughts, judgments, and harmful emotions seek to hijack and control the direction of our actions. Self-awareness is where we start to make the changes in our lives that make the most significant impact. By understanding the little things that make us tick, we can then know where we want to make changes. Change is a fundamental part of betterment. There is always room for improving the self. I will assume that almost everyone reading this book is striving to better themselves in one way or another (after all, the goal of this book is to help us be better!) These changes must be in the way we think, the way we judge ourselves and others, and in catching the triggers that send us into a tailspin. As we recognize these more and more, we can apply conscious effort to choose a different thought, word, and action. So, let the Light of your awareness shine brightly, revealing the influences that seek to hold you captive. With this knowledge, you possess the key to unlock the chains that bind you, paving the way for a journey toward greater freedom and self-mastery.
In moments of uncertainty and confusion, my advice is this: Do not allow the tempest of doubt to cloud the clarity of reason. Instead, turn your gaze inward, seeking the counsel of your inner wisdom. Yet, do not let foolish pride stop you from seeking the counsel of others, for wisdom is often found in the collective experience of humanity. The Luminari understands the importance of clarity and discernment in navigating the complexities of life. When confusion clouds our reasoning, avoiding impulsive action is prudent. In the Jedi tradition, there is great value in silence and the practice of "non-action." This doesn't mean inaction but rather the art of acting in harmony with the Force, where actions are guided by intuition and wisdom rather than driven by confusion or haste. By pausing and seeking guidance, whether through self-reflection, meditation, or seeking counsel from others, we allow the muddy waters of confusion to settle.
The path of Light is not always the easiest or most convenient, and at times, it may necessitate letting go of certain positions, relationships, or objectives. The sacrifices you make during your journey will change you forever because you must renounce your old ways and abandon antiquated and corrosive beliefs. By turning your back on your old ambitions and goals, you will no doubt lose friends, family, and perhaps even partners in your life. Ideas, people, and things that are sound, secure, and conducive to your path and mission will remain to aid in your growth and development, while those that are questionable will systematically be removed from your life.
The shadows of doubt may cloud your thoughts, obscure your intent, and entice you to actions unbecoming of your noble nature. Be mindful, patient, and still, for in these lie your strength. As the night cannot extinguish the stars, so too can darkness not wholly vanquish your inner Light. Emotion, yet Peace. Chaos, yet Harmony. We have feelings and emotions; these are powerful tools that we wield. Like any other tool, we must use them with discernment and wisdom. When used properly, we remain steadfast and balanced, unaffected by the call and desire for a darker response.
Kindness is a radiant force that transcends the boundaries of reciprocity. To be kind to both the kind-hearted and the unkind is to embody the very nature of Light itself. It can be difficult when encountering and dealing with people who are rude and unkind to us. But it is important to remember the actions we take when dealing with them are a reflection of us and the values and principles that we uphold. This does not mean we should tolerate abusive or harmful behavior from anyone. Boundaries must be set and enforced if faced with someone who is consistently unkind and disrespectful toward you.
Indeed, my friend, in the pursuit of excellence, there can be a point where excessive refinement or sharpening may diminish the effectiveness and sharpness of our skills. A blade that is too sharp may become fragile and lose its edge quickly, whereas a well-balanced sharpness is more enduring and effective. In life, this principle extends to various aspects, where moderation and balance often lead to optimal results.
Many people these days have a skewed understanding of what it means to be a Warrior. The Warrior is an integral part of the Way if the Lightbringer, the Jedi. It is even part of the name Spirit Warrior, and for good reason.
Training as a Warrior is not the same as training as a fighter, be it professional or just hooliganism. That is not to say that professional fighters cannot be Warriors, just that one does not automatically mean the other.
Fighting is an act of violence, guaranteed. It is instigated or planned. Warriors may have to fight in their lives, as the Way calls us to stand up in harm's way sometimes. However, the training of a Warrior is rooted in self-improvement. It is the Path of Alchemy, the process of transmutation and refinement of the whole.
Training in the martial arts is not just the training of self-defense, but it is teaching the mind how to think and learn in new ways. This is incredibly important in the modern day, because many of our jobs are sedentary. This leads to losing the ability to learn a physical skill or craft efficiently. We just don't do it as much anymore, so we're not used to working with our hands.
Not to sound shocking, but it also puts a wider gap between predators and potential victims, by making us as a species less likely to be able to take a blow, in the unfortunate event where one might be attacked. By not being as physical in daily activities, it makes us less immediately durable.
Most importantly, though, is that the training provides an outlet for any type of daily emotional turmoil, as well as methods to better deal with that type of stress. It offers a road to knowing when and how to release emotional energies, and mastery over those energies so that we do not allow them to grow out of control.
So, train hard and train often, because training never ends. Force guide and protect you.

This message echoes down to us from two millennia past:
“How long will you put off demanding the best of yourself? When will you use reason to decide what is best? You now know the principles. You claim to understand them. Then why aren’t you putting these principles into practice? What kind of teacher are you waiting for?
“You are not a child anymore; you are fully grown. Don’t be lazy and give excuse after excuse. If you continue to do this, your lack of progress may be hidden but, in the end, you will have lived a mediocre life.
“Decide that you are an adult, and you are going to devote the rest of your life to making progress. Stick closely to what is best. If you are distracted by pleasure or pain, glory or disrepute, realize that the time is now. The game has started and waiting any further is not an option. Win or lose will be decided today. Use reason to meet every challenge.”
--Epictetus, from “The Good Life Handbook”
Never has the world been in more need for the inspiration of moral leadership. Never has moral leadership been more wanting.
As aspiring Knights, we recognize the dynamics of Nature’s Law, the importance of being guided by conscience and reason and respect for truth. It is therefore our obligation to bring these qualities to life and inspire others to do likewise. We must not assume that it will come from somewhere else, some politician or religious leader or social activist.
The obligation is ours. Why? Because we see it when others do not. We are not given to conspiracy theories and lies. Greed is anathema to our beliefs, and chivalry instills in us the desire to support what is right and good.
The quest starts where it will. Why not here? Now?
As you strive to grow, evolve, and become the best version of yourself, it is not uncommon for others to perceive your changes with misunderstanding or skepticism. This is an issue nearly all of us face, and it can be a very difficult and trying part of the process. Endure this with patience, for it is a natural part of the process. Just as a caterpillar undergoes a transformation within its cocoon before emerging as a butterfly, so too does personal growth involve periods of inner change that may not be immediately evident or agreeable to others.
Indeed, danger and uncertainty are pervasive in the fabric of existence. To approach life with an inflexible attitude, resistant to change or adaptation, is to invite the potential for destruction. Do not let your emotions or rigid thoughts and beliefs narrow your field of vision. Be graceful, flexible, and mindful, as no two situations are rarely ever the same, nor are the resources at hand at any given time. Within every situation, patience and awareness are your allies; there will be a moment when you must take action, and with a clear mind, that moment will present itself clearly.
