Text "STAGSS" to 41444 to help this all girls robotics team from Kenya compete at the 2023 Worlds Robotics Olympiad in Panama.

Last fall, our team recognized a need that existed in rural Kenya and we believed we could rally to help students our age learn about STEM, despite the distance. Remotely, we started teaching technology skills and expanded to teach computer science, problem-solving, and robotics. We are most proud of our collaboration with St. Thomas Amagaro Girls Secondary School to organize a competitive robotics team, STAGSS. This hard-working group of girls proved their success and won all four levels of the Kenya Science and Engineering Fair (KSEF) including the Sub-county, County, Regional, and National levels. This team also won WRO KENYA, which is a National competition organized by the STEM IMPACT CENTER. Due to their success, they have recently qualified for the World Robot Olympiad International Final in Panama from November 7th- November 9th.

As you can imagine, this is a life-changing opportunity for these girls and this community. Every step of the way, they have demonstrated determination, grit and eagerness to learn. Due to their circumstances, they are not fortunate enough to pay for these fees. Going to this competition would be a big step in helping decrease the digital divide around the world. We hope you can support these girls to achieve success.

We’re looking for motivated and creative mentors to support our high school robotics team! Please email [email protected] if you can help. #6911
