A Child's Wish (A small story)

GOD, MAKE ME ,INTO A TV (YES, TELEVISION)

A Primary School teacher asks her pupils to write an essay "what wish do you want from God?" At the end of the day, the teacher collects all the essays given by her pupils. She takes them to her house, sits and marking them.

While marking the essays, the teacher sees a strange essay written by one of her pupils. That essay made her very emotional. Her husband comes and sits beside her and saw her crying. The husband asked her wife "What happened?"

She answered "Read this. It is one of my pupil's essay."

"Oh God, Make me into a Television. I want to live like the TV in my house.

“In my house, the TV is very valuable. All of my family members sit around it. They are very interested in it.
When the TV is talking, my parents listen to it happily and calmly. They don’t shout at the TV. They don’t quarrel with the TV. They don’t slap at the TV. So I want to become a TV.

“The TV is the center of attraction in my house. I want to receive the same special care that the TV receives from my parents. Even when it is not working, the TV has a lot of value.

“When my dad and mom come home, immediately they sit in front of the TV, switch on it and spend hours.
The TV is stealing the time of my dad and my mom. If I become a TV, they will spend their time with me.

“While watching the TV, my parents laugh a lot and they smile many times. But I want my parents should laugh and smile with me. So please make me into a TV. .

And last but not least, If I become a TV, surely I can make my parents happy and entertain them. Lord I don't ask you anything. I just want to live like a TV. Please make me into a TV."

The husband completed reading the essay.
He said "My God, poor kid. He feels loneliness. He did not receive enough love and care from his parents. His parents are horrible".

The eyes of the primary school teacher filled with tears. She looked at her husband and said "Our son wrote this essay".

Dear Meaningful Friend, I do hope this message hits you just as much as it would have hit the teacher and her husband. It did hit me. And I wonder how many more children would really wish they were TVs.

Can we pause a while and give some attention to our children, spouse, parents and the bits of other relationships in our lives, just as much as we give to our TVs, Phones, Tablets, PCs?

Morning Prayer
Lord I know your favour is always upon me, I believe that your love and mercy are new every morning, I thank you for showing me such great compassion and care. Dear Lord, here I am, all to you, to do your will.
Today, I bring my anger and frustration to you, change my heart to be more like yours. Help me to reject the culture of indifference, so I may care for others. May you free me from needless worry, and help me to live every day with trust and gratitude for your providential care. Amen

HOW THE APOSTLES DIED.

1. Matthew
Suffered martyrdom in Ethiopia, Killed by a sword wound.

2. Mark
Died in Alexandria, Egypt , after being dragged by Horses through the streets until he was dead.

3. Luke
Was hanged in Greece as a result of his tremendous Preaching to the lost.

4. John
Faced martyrdom when he was boiled in huge Basin of boiling oil during a wave of persecution In Rome. However, he was miraculously delivered From death.
John was then sentenced to the mines on the prison Island of Patmos. He wrote his prophetic Book of Revelation on Patmos . The apostle John was later freed and returned to serve As Bishop of Edessa in modern Turkey . He died as an old man, the only apostle to die peacefully

5. Peter
He was crucified upside down on an x-shaped cross.
According to church tradition it was because he told his tormentors that he felt unworthy to die In the same way that Jesus Christ had died.

6. James
The leader of the church in Jerusalem , was thrown over a hundred feet down from the southeast pinnacle of the Temple when he refused to deny his faith in Christ. When they discovered that he survived the fall, his
enemies beat James to death with a fuller's club.
* This was the same pinnacle where Satan had taken Jesus during the Temptation.

7. James the Son of Zebedee,
was a fisherman by trade when Jesus Called him to a lifetime of ministry. As a strong leader of the church, James was beheaded at Jerusalem. The Roman officer who guarded James watched amazed as James defended his faith at his trial. Later, the officer Walked beside James to the place of ex*****on. Overcome by conviction, he declared his new faith to the judge and Knelt beside James to accept beheading as a Christian.

8. Bartholomew
Also known as Nathaniel Was a missionary to Asia. He witnessed for our Lord in present day Turkey. Bartholomew was martyred for his preaching in Armenia where he was flayed to death by a whip.

9. Andrew
Was crucified on an x-shaped cross in Patras, Greece. After being whipped severely by seven soldiers they tied his body to the cross with cords to prolong his agony. His followers reported that, when he was led toward the cross, Andrew saluted it in these words: 'I have long desired and expected this happy hour. The cross has been consecrated by the body of Christ hanging on it.' He continued to preach to his tormentors For two days until he expired.

10. Thomas
Was stabbed with a spear in India during one of his missionary trips to establish the church in the Sub-continent.

11. Jude
Was killed with arrows when he refused to deny his faith in Christ.

12. Matthias
The apostle chosen to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot, was stoned and then beheaded.

13. Paul
Was tortured and then beheaded by the evil Emperor Nero at Rome in A.D. 67. Paul endured a lengthy imprisonment, which allowed him to write his many
epistles to the churches he had formed throughout the Roman Empire. These letters, which taught many of the foundational Doctrines of Christianity, form a large portion of the New Testament.

Perhaps this is a reminder to us that our sufferings here are indeed minor compared to the intense persecution and cold cruelty faced by the apostles and disciples during their times For the sake of the Faith. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: But he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

On his death bed, Alexander summoned his army generals and told them his three ultimate wishes:

1. The best doctors should carry his coffin ...

2. The wealth he has accumulated (money, gold, precious stones) should be scattered along the procession to the cemetery ...

3. His hands should be let loose, so they hang outside the coffin for all to see !!

One of his generals who was surprised by these unusual requests asked Alexander to explain .
Here is what Alexander the Great had to say :

1. "I want the best doctors to carry my coffin to demonstrate that in the face of death , even the best doctors in the world have no power to heal .."

2. "I want the road to be covered with my treasure so that everybody sees that material wealth acquired on earth , will stay on earth.."

3. I want my hands to swing in the wind, so that people understand that we come to this world empty handed and we leave this world empty handed after the most precious treasure of all is exhausted, and that is : TIME.

We do not take to our grave any material wealth. TIME is our most precious treasure because it is LIMITED. We can produce more wealth, but we cannot produce more time.

When we give someone our time, we actually give a portion of our life that we will never take back . Our time is our life !. Let us use our time to share SALVATION in CHRIST JESUS.

The best present that you can give to your family and friends is your TIME to talk about SALVATION. Let them know that JESUS will come to judge humanity according to what we do during our stay on earth. HEAVEN is real and hell is real. Choose HEAVEN.

When lights are off at night, one must not view the handphone!

Habitually using handphones b4 bedtime in the dark can lead to serious problems.

Recently, an increasing number of 30-40 year-old patients are seeking medical attention due to using handphones in the dark.

Professor Li Li, director of the Hospital of Ophthalmology said: direct glare of >30 minutes would cause irreversible eye macular degeneration that leads to rapid deterioration of vision.

Contracting maculopathy (eye cancer) means waiting for loss of sight because modern medicine cannot treat, let alone cure it.

The bright phone in the dark with close-up view & high-energy directed at the eyes will damage the macula of the eye.

Professor Li Li said that symptoms of macular degeneration is mostly experienced by old people, but lately patients are getting younger. Patients who are 30-40 years of age increased by 3 %, most are frequent users of handphones.

However, viewing the handphone in the dark not only causes macular degeneration. It initially causes dry eyes, cataracts and eventually loss of sight.

Early lesions of the eye have to be treated with laser or injection of steroids.

254 Hospital eye specialist Professor Li Li suggested that the most important thing is to get rid of the bad habit of using handphones in the dark. Because habitual use of handphones in thr dark b4 bedtime may cause a lifetime of harm.

Friends : In order to look after ourselves and our families, remember not to turn off the lights if viewing the handphone. Inform handphone users urgently that viewing handphones in the dark can easily lead to loss of sight!
